What is Viva Engage? “…the newest app within Microsoft Viva, designed to help organizations build community, spark engagement with leadership, harness knowledge and answers, and build personal networks. Microsoft Viva Engage will be a new and enhanced experience of the current Yammer Communities app for Microsoft Teams and brings new capabilities to connect people, find and share knowledge, express yourself, and find belonging at work.” *
TL;DR:
The new Viva Engage app replaces the Communities app in Teams. This change does not make any underlying changes to any existing functionality provided by existing Yammer services. On web, mobile and desktop, Yammer.com and the Yammer apps for iOS and Android will remain. In Teams, Viva Engage will directly replace the Communities app. There are two parts to this rollout, due late August to late September 2022.
Details:
Viva Engage will continue to show the same network, home feed, and communities as you see today as in Yammer. Viva Engage will also continue respecting any custom re-branding done for the Communities app.
As a part of this release, ‘posts in storylines’ will also be released under preview.
As with the Communities app, the new Viva Engage app will continue to require an existing Yammer license.
Availability:
The brand change from the Communities app to Viva Engage will occur in late August. Rollout of the user experience changes from the Communities app to Viva Engage experience will take until late September 2022.
