TL;DR
Microsoft Teams is getting intelligent message translation in chats. You will see translation suggestions when you receive a message in a different language. Due early May to late June 2024.

Details
In Teams chat, you will see translation suggestions based on your settings when you get a message in a different language. You can select which languages you do not want to translate (because you understand them) and whether to translate messages automatically.

In this example, the user is offered the option to translate the message and the option to never translate French.


You can access your settings by selecting More options (…) in chat:


…and in Settings > Appearance and accessibility > Translation:
