TL;DR
New Planner for the web will integrate features from Microsoft To Do, Planner, Project, and Copilot. Due mid-October to late November 2024.

Details
The new Planner for the web experience will match Planner in Teams. The update reads like a simplified version, which will launch with reduced features initially and new functionality added in 2025.

New Planner and Project for the web notifications will be merged, with settings applied to both apps.

Features not available initially but will be coming in early 2025:

  • Open plans associated with a Loop task list
  • Board view in the Assigned to me view
  • Add Assigned to me tasks or a plan to an external calendar with an iCalendar link
  • Undoing the deletion of a task

Here’s what you will be losing:

  • Charts for pinned plans in Planner Hub
  • While you were away notifications
  • Activity log of a task’s creation, assignments, and completion date in the task comments.
  • Links to group members, Microsoft Outlook conversations, and Microsoft OneNote notebook (you can still access these links in Outlook)
  • Menu option to Leave plan
  • Suggested attachments
  • Charts view and Schedule view on the Assigned to me page
  • Customised backgrounds for plans

It will be interesting to see what benefits users without Copilot and Loop will see.
