Details
There are two parts to this update relating to existing teams and new teams:
Existing teams:
Microsoft is introducing the ability for owners to rename the General channel in new and existing teams. The renamed General channel will then appear alphabetically in the channel list.
It cannot be changed back to the “General” name if you rename it.
New teams:
“General” will no longer be the default name for the first channel when you create a new team; you must name this channel yourself as you create the Team. It cannot be called “General”, and cannot be archived or deleted.
AvailabilityDue mid to late August 2024.
Now due late August to early September 2024.
