Short Version
Microsoft Edge is introducing an AI-powered history search to help you find previously visited sites more easily. Now due late September to late October 2025.

Details
Microsoft: “This enhanced experience uses an on-device model to understand synonyms, natural language, and minor typos—making it easier to find what you’re looking for. The model is trained locally using your browsing data, which never leaves the device or is sent to Microsoft”.

Your History hub is accessed via Settings and more “…” > History, or by visiting edge://history/all. This new feature will allow you to search your history using synonyms, natural language phrases, and even minor spelling errors:

There will be a new  ‘Enable History search assisted with AI’ toggle in Edge settings (Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Address bar and search > History search), which will be set to ‘on’ by default.
