Channel Agent is an AI-powered assistant for Teams channels. It summarises conversations, drafts status reports, assigns tasks, and answers questions. Public Preview will roll out from mid-September to mid-October 2025.
Details
Channel Agent offers each channel in Teams a dedicated agent grounded in its conversations and meetings to act as an expert for the team. They adopt the channel’s name and help with everyday tasks such as flagging deadlines that are buried in conversations, summarising progress, assigning tasks and due dates, and answering questions.
For existing Teams channels, you will need to manually add an agent to use its capabilities. But, an agent will be automatically added to newly created channels – but your M365 admin can override this default.
Limitations:
- May gather and share context that crosses information barriers.
- Best supported by English (US).
- Not supported in private channels.
- Not functional in channels that contain external or guest users.
- Not supported in tenants that use Customer Key.
- Processing data from previews can happen outside of the EU Data Boundaries
Availability
Public Preview will roll out from mid-September to mid-October 2025.
