Microsoft OneNote for Windows desktop is getting an improved experience for on-canvas Copilot features. Due from 12th December 2025.

Details
Copilot in Microsoft OneNote for Windows desktop will soon see the following improvements to the on-canvas Copilot experience.

  • On-canvas Copilot features will open in the Copilot Chat pane rather than in a separate window.
  • Features such as Take Notes with Copilot, Summarise Page, Create a Task List, and Rewrite Page will now open in the Copilot Chat pane.
  • You will no longer be able to explicitly refer to “this section” or “this notebook” in prompts.
