TL;DR
Microsoft PowerPoint Copilot ‘Create presentation from file’ will soon support protected or encrypted Word documents. Due early to late June 2024.

Details
Previously, users who wanted to make a new presentation from an encrypted Word document would get an error message telling them to use an unprotected file instead.

With this rollout, users can make a new presentation from an encrypted Word document. To keep the document protections consistent, the new presentation will take on the Word document’s sensitivity label, if it is higher than the new presentation.

If a Word document has Double-key Encryption (DKE) or limited Extract rights, PowerPoint Copilot will honour these protections and will not make a new presentation from that file.

Availability
Due early to late June 2024.
