SharePoint Online is getting a new Banner web part to replace the Title area for Pages and News. Now due early July to late August 2024.

Key points:

  • You will be able to remove the title area, which is no longer mandatory
  • The title area will be rebranded as a Banner web part with new layouts
  • Add no banners, one banner, or multiple banners
  • The first banner at the top of the page is considered as a title, which is synchronised to the page Title on the command bar. Additional banners will function as headings on the page
  • Two new banner layouts:  Author and Fade
  • You must enter a page title in the first banner or on the command bar before you can Save and close or Publish the page:
