Short Version
The Skills agent helps individuals and leaders discover people with specific skills from across your organisation. On hold as of 22nd October 2025.
Details
The Skills agent is now available in the Frontier program. The agent helps individuals and leaders discover people with specific skills. It is powered by the People Skills service, which infers skills from user activity.
Like other Frontier agents, it is built for evaluation and feedback purposes. The features are in development and may change at any time. Most of us won’t see the agent in our workplaces at the moment, but it’s worth being aware of before its eventual general availability.

Microsoft: “Employees can use the agent to easily explore their own skills and how to develop them, see how they can best leverage Copilot, find experts in the organization, and understand colleague’s skillsets. Leaders can use the Skills agent to inform strategic workforce planning decisions, such as staffing for high-priority projects, with an up-to-date view of talent landscape strengths, gaps, and opportunities”.
AvailabilityArrived mid-September 2025 in the Frontier program
On hold as of 22nd October 2025. Microsoft: “To ensure an optimal experience for our customers we have determined that we won’t be proceeding with this change at this time”.
