Copilot will soon be able to summarise Outlook email attachments. Due mid-June to late August 2025.

You will soon be able to summarise PDF, Word (.docx), and PowerPoint (.pptx) email attachments in Outlook without opening the attachment.
Select Summarise in the attachment’s three-dot context menu, and the Copilot summary will display below the existing email summary inside the Summary by Copilot section:
Coming to Outlook for the web, the new Outlook for Windows/Mac, Outlook for Android and iOS, with multiple ways to access this feature. Does not support encrypted files or files protected by Microsoft Information Protection (MIP).
Remember that you can turn off Copilot in Outlook if you prefer:
