Copilot

🔜 Ability to Stop Copilot while it is generating a response in Teams
Microsoft: “Copilot in Teams will now have a ‘stop’ button after sending a prompt. This will allow the user to stop Copilot’s response either before the response has started to generate, or even after the response is generating. The user may then start a new prompt if they wish”.

🔜 M365 Copilot can convert paragraphs to lists in PowerPoint


In PowerPoint, use Copilot to convert your paragraphs of text to bullet points or numbered lists…no Copilot licence required! Due late March to mid-May 2025. Read more.


🔜 Microsoft 365 Copilot app: Updating Recommended section with Copilot prompts


The Recommended section on the Home tab of the Microsoft 365 Copilot app will be updated to include Copilot prompt suggestions – select any of the suggested Copilot prompts to learn more about the content without opening it.

🔜 New Microsoft Graph Connectors Now Available for Microsoft 365 Copilot
Microsoft: “New Microsoft Graph Connectors for Microsoft 365 Copilot are now available. These 14 connectors enhance Copilot’s ability to access and analyze business content across various platforms like Salesforce, Zendesk, Adobe, WordPress, Google Drive, Dropbox, Jira, Azure, Stack Overflow, PostgreSQL, and SharePoint On-Prem”.

🔜 Microsoft 365 Copilot: New Researcher and Analyst agents
As a Microsoft 365 Copilot-licensed user, you will soon gain access to two new deep reasoning agents, Researcher and Analyst, which will initially be available in English only. Researcher will combine OpenAI’s deep research model with Copilot’s advanced orchestration and deep search capabilities to assist you in tackling complex, multi-step research tasks at work, reasoning over work and web data, including third-party data. Analyst will leverage OpenAI’s o3-mini reasoning model, optimised for advanced data analysis at work, using chain-of-thought reasoning and Python to iteratively refine its responses and provide high-quality answers. These agents will start rolling out in April as part of the new “Frontier” programme, offering early access to new Copilot innovations while they are still in development. If the timing changes, you will be notified.

🔜 Microsoft Copilot Studio – Create automated copilots triggered by events
Microsoft: “We are announcing the create automated copilots triggered by events feature for Copilot Studio. This feature allows you to create autonomous agents that can react to an event such as a table update, a new document, or a newly received email rather than relying on end-user input”. “By adding automated triggers to Copilot Studio, you can cause an agent to run independently of end-user input. The agent will respond to events such as an email arriving, a document being created, or a table row being updated, and then follow its user-defined instructions”.

🔜 Copilot to recap changes in Loop over extended periods
Microsoft: “The Recap feature in Loop is no longer limited to the current session. Users can now recap changes made over a longer period, such as the last week or last 30 days” and “Users of the Recap feature in Loop will be able to create Recaps that summarize changes made over a user-selected range of time. This will enhance their ability to track and review changes, improving productivity and collaboration”.

🔜 PowerPoint Designer will be part of Microsoft 365 Copilot


Currently, you will find Designer on the Home tab of PowerPoint. Any M365 user can use this feature, and this is not changing. After this rollout, Copilot users who use PowerPoint and go to the Home tab > Copilot > Suggestions drop-down menu will see Designer layouts as well as Copilot suggestions. The change here is that the Designer layouts are now surfacing within Copilot.

🔜 Easily stay on-brand when creating PowerPoint presentations with Copilot


You will soon be able to create presentations with M365 Copilot in PowerPoint using your organisation’s brand images. Due late March to early April 2025. Read more.


🔜 Microsoft 365 Copilot: Users can search Copilot Chat sessions
Microsoft: “Before this rollout: Users can only skim and scroll though their Copilot chat sessions to find a desired session. After this rollout: Users will be able to type keywords to search their chat sessions. As a user begins typing, session results will appear based on the keyword(s), and users can select the session that corresponds to their search”.

🔜 Let M365 Copilot prioritise your Outlook inbox


Copilot will review your emails as they arrive and assign a high, low or normal priority based on factors like people in the thread, their job titles, email content and more. Due April 2025. Read more.


🕔 Microsoft 365 Copilot: The Copilot Chat input box design will be consistent
Microsoft: “Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat input box design will be updated to a consistent design across the Web and Work tabs, with no functionality changes”.

🕔 A new Copilot compose experience is coming to Outlook
The draft with Copilot experience in Microsoft Outlook is getting a major design change. Functionality is not changing. Read more.


🕔 Microsoft 365 Copilot to group sessions by time frame
Microsoft 365 Copilot will group chat history by time frames, such as “Yesterday” and “Previous 7 days”. Now due early to mid-March 2025. Read more.


🕔 Ground your M365 Copilot prompts in SharePoint and OneDrive
When writing Copilot prompts in the chat box, you will soon be able to point your prompts (ground) at specific SharePoint/OneDrive folders and SharePoint sites. Now due mid to late April 2025. Read more.


🕔 AI enabled file summaries on Teams mobile
Microsoft: “Quickly get an AI summary of Microsoft Word, PPT, and PDF files that were shared in chat and channels on the Teams mobile app without leaving the flow of work. Users can tap the summary icon on the file and get a summary generated by AI. Now users can consume and comprehend the content without reading the entire document on a small mobile screen”.

🕔 M365 Copilot will automatically summarise Word documents as you open them
Copilot for Microsoft 365 in Microsoft Word will create a summary in the window at the top of the Word document as you open it. You can then hide the summary or open the Copilot chat pane to ask questions about the document. Now due late August 2024 to late May 2025. Read more.


🔭 M365 Copilot Prompt Gallery – Share a prompt to a Microsoft Teams team
Microsoft: “Share custom prompts with members of a Microsoft Teams team from the Copilot Prompt Gallery App, allowing team members to easily discover and utilize these prompts in Copilot Prompt Gallery App”.

🔭 M365 Copilot: Catch up on a summary of document comments at the top of your document
Microsoft: “Copilot will have a Discussion tab in the top of your document to summarize open comments, helping you quickly understand what people have said in comments.”.

OneDrive

🔜 Ask Copilot questions about images in OneDrive


Ask Copilot questions about images stored in your OneDrive. For example, what the image is or about the concepts outlined in the image. Due late February to mid-April 2025. Read more.


🔜 Microsoft OneDrive gets a new naming convention for folder shortcuts


Shortcuts added to your OneDrive are getting a new naming convention; the name will show where a SharePoint folder is stored or who owns a OneDrive folder. Now due late June to mid-July 2025. Read more.


🔭 New Folder Anyone Link Permission: View & Upload
Microsoft: “We’re introducing a new ‘View and Upload’ permission for folder ‘Anyone’ links in the OneDrive Admin Sharing Settings. This feature allows tenants to restrict folder links to ‘Anyone can view’ while still enabling the ‘Request Files’ functionality. It offers tenants more granular control over content access, ensures compliance with internal policies, and helps administrators maintain a higher level of data governance”.

Outlook

🔜 New Outlook: “Automatically dismiss reminders for past events” to be enabled by default 


Microsoft: “The existing Reminder feature in new Microsoft Outlook for Windows pops up over the user’s email or calendar to let them know a scheduled event is about to start. We plan to enable the “Automatically dismiss reminders for past events” option for all users, which will stop reminders from popping up for events that have already passed”.

🔜 Message recall in the Outlook app for iOS and Android
Microsoft: “From the Microsoft Outlook for iOS and Android apps, you can request that Outlook to attempt to recall a message sent to a colleague within your organization” and “sers will have the option to request a recall attempt for a sent email. This feature provides an additional layer of control for users who need to retract emails sent in error”.

🕔 Add a name pronunciation to your profile card in Teams and Outlook
Microsoft Teams and Outlook will soon include a feature that enables you to record and share the pronunciation of your name on your profile cards. Now due late March to late April 2025. Read more.


🕔 Agents in Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat in Outlook
Microsoft: “Agents extend the capability of Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat in exciting ways, letting users customize their Copilot experience. From Copilot in Outlook, the right-side panel will show agents that the user has previously installed or that their admin has previously deployed. The panel will also provide entry points to Get Copilot agents in the app store and to Create an agent”.

🕔 Use Microsoft Outlook to quickly see who is in the office with you
New Outlook for Windows and Outlook web are getting a new calendar feature to show who will be in the office. Now due early October 2024 to early April 2025. Read more.


🕔 Work Hours and Location (WHL) comes to the Outlook My Day pane
New Outlook and Outlook web will soon allow you to view and update your Work Hours and Location in the My Day pane. Now due mid-January 2025 to early April 2025. Read more.


🔭 Calendar support for copying, cutting, and casting events and appointments
Microsoft: “You can now copy, cut, and paste meetings and appointments on their calendar in the new Outlook using CTRL+C, CTRL+X, and CTRL+V keyboard shortcuts”.

🔭 Edit from This and All Following Events
Microsoft: “You can now edit a recurring event from a certain date forward by selecting “This and All Following Events””.

🔭 2-click view of encrypted emails in New Outlook
Microsoft: “New Outlook for Windows will now support 2-click view for encrypted emails. This feature enables admins to require user confirmation before allowing access to encrypted emails”.

🔭 New Outlook for Windows – Reply To header
Microsoft: “Users will be able to toggle a “Reply to” field in the email compose form, which will allow them to add one or multiple addresses which will be used as the recipients for any replies to that message”.

🔭 Category Shortcuts in the New Outlook for Windows
Microsoft: “Easily organize your inbox with quick-access category shortcuts! The shortcuts you loved in classic Outlook for Windows will be available in the new Outlook for Windows, making it easier than ever to categorize emails”.

🔭 ‘Move to’ in the pop-out ribbon in New Outlook and Outlook for Web
Microsoft: “The “Move To” option is now available in the pop-out ribbon in New Outlook and Outlook for Web, making it easier to organize emails. Quickly move messages to any folder without switching back to the main window. This update ensures a seamless and consistent email management experience”.

SharePoint

🔜 Tables in SharePoint get a new toolbar


The Table toolbar is a new toolbar that you will use for table functionality, incorporating Table Styles. Due late February to late March 2025. Read more.


🔜 Use SharePoint quick steps to automate common tasks and workflows


Microsoft: “Coming soon to Microsoft SharePoint: In the Automate menu, users will be able to create customized quick steps for common tasks such as composing an email or starting a Microsoft Teams chat to specified People columns, sending an approval request, executing a flow, and setting a column value on one or more items. Users will find a simple sentence builder experience, similar to SharePoint rules”.

🕔 SharePoint is getting a new preview mode for Pages and News posts

🕔 Copilot page creation assistance is coming to SharePoint
Page with Copilot is being added to SharePoint’s + New menu to help you create engaging, relevant pages faster. Now due late March to late April 2025. Read more.


🔭 Design ideas for quick links webpart
Microsoft: “Design Ideas now provides formatting suggestions for the quick links webpart. This includes suggesting icons and images for a given link, as well as showing how the webpart would look with different card sizes, for single quick link webparts in a section”.

🔭 Design Ideas for Blank Flexible Sections
Microsoft: “When you add a blank flexible section to your page, you will now be able to open up the Design Ideas panel to get blank section suggestions just as you can for standard sections”.

🔭 Design Ideas Suggests Images from Org Assets
Microsoft: “SharePoint Design ideas can now pull from your Org Asset images to use within design ideas. If available when performing image suggestion, the first 3 ideas will show suggestions with images from org assets, whereas the rest of the ideas will use stock images”.

🔭 SharePoint agent usage statistics across all SharePoint sites
Microsoft: “SharePoint agents’ usage statistics would be aggregated across all SharePoint sites and available for the SPO/tenant admin persona”.

Teams

🔜 There is a new Microsoft Teams setting to view incoming calls in a small window


You will soon be able to enable a new setting in Microsoft Teams that allows you to view incoming calls in a small window, minimising disruptions. Due mid to late May 2025. Read more.


🔜 The new calendar feature to become the default experience, with an opt-out option
The optional new calendar experience in Teams will soon become the default experience. Microsoft: “…New calendar is on by default, and users can toggle it off to return to the classic calendar”.

🔜 Enhanced spell checking coming to Teams
You will soon have enhanced spell-checking in Microsoft Teams, supporting multiple languages. This feature will improve accuracy, allow you to switch between up to three languages, and let you add custom words for personalised spell-checking.

🔜 Microsoft Teams users can report security concerns about external collaborators


Microsoft Teams users will soon be able to report security risks and concerns regarding external users in one-on-one chats, group chats, and meeting chats. Now due mid to late May 2025. Read more.


🔜 Share contact information for people in Microsoft Teams channels


Just as you have been able to in chat, you can now share colleagues’ contact information in Teams channels, making it easy for others to contact them.

🔜 Simplified Notes pane in meetings


Microsoft is updating the Notes pane in meetings to streamline its design and clarify key features. Collaborative meeting notes can be added to scheduled meetings but are not supported for instant meetings or Teams calls. The meeting pane will be renamed from “Meeting notes” to “Notes” to match the Notes icon in the meeting toolbar. You will be able to access controls like “Open in new window” and “Copy component” from the three-dot menu at the top of the Notes pane, and the “Open in Loop” option will also be included there, replacing the previous method of selecting the Pages icon to find this option.

🔜 The files tab in Microsoft Teams channels gets renamed and gains new capabilities


The ‘Files’ tab in Microsoft Teams channels will be renamed ‘Shared’ and will show shared post content and document library files under two tabs. Due mid-May to mid-June 2025. Read more.


🕔 Microsoft Teams meeting presenters will be able to view chat while screen-sharing
A new Chat icon on the Teams meeting presenter toolbar will soon allow presenters to view the meeting chats while sharing their screen. Now due early June to early July 2025. Read more.


🕔 Join town halls using dial-in options and join codes available in email invites
Microsoft: “Presenters and organisers can now join Microsoft Teams town halls using dial-in options and join codes that are available in email invites”.

🕔New ‘Tag mentions’ filter for the Activity feed


Microsoft: “Coming soon to Microsoft Teams: Users will have a new Tag mentions filter in the Activity feed to see their tag mentions in their chat and channel messages. The existing @Mentions filter allows users to catch up quickly on personal mentions”.

🕔 Allow presenters to moderate Q&A
Microaoft: “Coming soon for Microsoft Teams: Organizers of town halls and webinars will be able to select and assign presenters to also moderate the Q&A, allowing them to manage and publish questions asked during the event. This feature lets organizers make changes to the group of moderators at any time (before or during the event), and it is available to all users organizing a town hall or webinar”.
“This feature is supported for presenters with Microsoft Azure Active Directory (AAD) IDs. Presenters using consumer domains (such as live.com or gmail.com) are not supported”.

🕔 Microsoft Copilot: File summary in Microsoft Teams chat
Microsoft: “Users will be able to summarize files with Summarize for me using Microsoft Copilot within one-on-one or group Microsoft Teams chats. This feature will work on common file types like Word and PDF initially, and other file formats will be added over time. This summarization respects the file’s security policies, ensuring that only users with access to the file receive a summary, which will carry the same sensitivity label as the original file. A Microsoft 365 Copilot license is required to use this feature”.

🕔 Post and reply as “Organiser” in Q&A
Microsoft: “Coming soon for Microsoft Teams: Organizers for town halls, webinars, and meetings will be able to post and reply to questions using the title “Organizer” in the Q&A experience, instead of their names. This feature allows organizers to present a unified and official voice when responding to attendee questions”.

🕔 Distinguish invites among Attendee, Presenter, and Co-organizer emails
Microsoft: “Microsoft Teams Events invite emails will be separated based on the role of the participant. Event organizers will get an email explaining the specific roles of participants in the event. Similarly, each presenter will get a separate calendar invite, allowing the organizers of town halls to maintain separate invites for attendees”.

🕔 Teams is integrating chat notification settings with the meeting RSVP
Microsoft: “You will not receive notifications or see chats from meetings you declined. You will be able to set how you want to be notified for meetings you RSVP with Accept or Tentative from Microsoft Teams settings”. Refs: MC704035 and 365 Roadmap ID 161739. Now due mid to late early April 2025.


🔭 Slide control for presenters
Microsoft: “Meeting or event presenters can now share control of slides with fellow presenters eliminating manual slide changes and maintaining a smooth flow during meetings or webinars”.

🔭 Teams Town hall Organizer/Co-Organiser/Presenter Join as Attendee
Microsoft: “Event crew members will soon be able to join a live Town hall as an Attendee during the event to monitor the experience for viewers”.
Roadmap ID: 484126. Due May 2025.


🔭 Townhall concurrent attendees increase to 100,000
Microsoft: “Organizers of town hall instances can now reach wider audience in a single event with an expansion to a maximum of 100,000 simultaneous attendees. This increase serves as a significant jump from the previous attendee cap of 50,000 for organizers with a Teams Premium license. The quality and stability of town halls up to this new limit will remain constant, providing high-quality and reliable content to participants”.

🔭 Control When Shared Content Is Visible to Attendees in ‘Manage what attendees see’
Microsoft: “An enhancement to the ‘Manage what attendees see’ feature, allowing organizers and presenters to control when shared content is visible to attendees. This capability is available for Meetings, Webinars and Town halls”.

Microsoft: “When a call is forwarded/transferred to another colleague, users can prompt Copilot to automatically summarize the context, open questions, etc. for the call as a briefing for the receiving colleague. This feature ensures that the recipient is well-informed about the previous conversations related to the transferred call, enhancing their understanding and preparedness”.

Microsoft: “Now, meeting organizers and co-organizers can send one-way messages to attendees in the lobby via the lobby chat. The Lobby chat is intended to optimize the lobby experience for all participants, ensuring that organizers are better equipped to run external meetings have more control over meetings with external participants, and external attendees are well informed about the meeting upon meeting start”.

Microsoft: “In August 2024, the Python in Excel feature in Microsoft Excel became generally available to commercial users with paid Microsoft 365 licenses that provide access to the Microsoft 365 desktop apps, such as Office 365 E3 and E5 licenses. After this rollout, we will expand the eligibility for Python in Excel to include users with Microsoft 365 commercial licenses with access only to Microsoft 365 apps for the web, such as Office 365 E1, Microsoft 365 Business Basic, and Office 365 F3”.

🔜 Microsoft OneDrive and Microsoft SharePoint: New annotation layout and tools for editing PDFs


Microsoft: “Coming soon for Microsoft OneDrive and Microsoft SharePoint: A new PDF annotation layout that features a more intuitive design. After this rollout, all annotation tools will be in a single row at the top of the screen, including a new type of eraser that can remove pen and highlighter annotations pixel by pixel”. Note that the new eraser tool does not work for Text annotations.

🔜 Transitioning from user’s OneDrive to SharePoint for Whiteboards created in Teams Channels
Microsoft: “We are updating the storage location for Whiteboards created from the Teams Channel Tab App. Previously, these whiteboards were saved on the initiator’s OneDrive, which caused access issues due to sharing settings, information barriers, or conditional access policies. To resolve these issues and align with the behavior of other M365 apps, whiteboards initiated from the Teams Channel Tab App will now be stored in the corresponding SharePoint site of the Teams Channel (also known as the channel site). This change ensures seamless access for all channel members while adhering to set policies”.

Microsoft: “The Text Sizing feature offers users the ability to: 1. Adjust Font Sizes: Increase or decrease font sizes as needed. 2. Preset Font Sizes: Choose from preset font sizes for convenience. 3. Custom Text Size: Input custom text sizes for enhanced clarity. This feature enhances readability, improves clarity, and establishes a structured visual hierarchy, ensuring well-organized and easily comprehensible content on the board”.
