Short Version
You can now select any message or text in a Teams conversation and ask Copilot about it directly, with that content automatically included as context, no copying, pasting, or explaining required. Due late August to late September 2026.
Details
No more copying a message into Copilot and explaining what it is…select it, ask Copilot, done. This kind of friction removal is what makes people actually use Copilot day to day, rather than reaching for it only when they remember it exists. Ask Copilot is available in 1:1 chats, group chats, meeting chats, and channel thread conversations, across Teams desktop, web, and mobile.
On desktop and web, you can select text within a message, right-click, and choose Ask Copilot:

Alternatively, open the message actions menu on any message and choose Ask Copilot to use the whole message as context instead:
On mobile (iOS and Android), press and hold a message, then select Ask Copilot from the message action menu. Teams opens the existing Copilot pane with that message’s content already included.
Either way, Copilot already has the relevant conversation content as soon as the pane opens, so you can go straight into asking your question without restating what you’re referring to.
