Short Version
Copilot is moving to a single app experience across personal and work accounts, adopting a simpler name and icon, and getting clearer visual cues to help you tell which account you’re logged into. Due mid-August to late September 2026.
Details
Copilot is unifying into a single app for both personal and work accounts, rather than treating them as separate experiences. The app is also adopting a simpler name, Microsoft Copilot app, along with a new icon.

To help you tell which account you’re in, you’ll see clearer visual cues: a different background colour for each account type, and a Work label under your profile in the navigation pane on web and desktop. The existing green data protection shield you may already recognise in your Microsoft Entra ID (work or school) experience still appears too.

If you use the web app, the browser address will change from m365.cloud.microsoft to copilot.cloud.microsoft, and you’ll be redirected automatically rather than needing to update anything yourself. The Windows and Mac desktop apps are also getting an updated underlying architecture, which Microsoft says will support future improvements to the app.
There are a number of tweaks to the top-left navigation too (the navigation/Copilot button is split to show ‘Copilot’ and a separate button, and there’s a new Tasks button):

This is a staged rollout across platforms. Mobile and web apps begin rolling out worldwide from mid-August 2026, alongside opt-in early access for Windows and Mac. Standard rollout of the URL redirect follows from late August 2026. Windows and Mac then roll out worldwide from mid-September 2026, with a deferred URL redirect rollout for the web app from late September 2026.
Security, compliance, privacy, and enterprise controls are unchanged throughout.
Availability
Due mid-August to late September 2026, phased by platform.
