Short Version
New Microsoft Outlook for Windows desktop will soon allow you to set custom sounds for new mail notifications, mail reactions, and Calendar notifications/reminders. Due late June to late July 2025.

This update covers three events in Outlook.
For new mail notifications, go to Settings > General > Notifications > Mail > New mail > Play sound:
For mail reactions, go to Settings > General > Notifications > Mail > Reactions > Play sound:
For Calendar notifications, go to Settings > General > Notifications > Calendar > Event Reminders > Play sound:
