Short Version
The Teams meeting experience when the active meeting window is minimised is being updated to help you stay engaged while multitasking in other apps. Now due mid to late May 2026.

Details
Microsoft is changing the Teams meeting participant experience when the active meeting window is minimised, allowing you to perform actions such as raising your hand and sending reactions without restoring the full Teams meeting window.

By default, the new expanded minimised view will appear, displaying up to four participant videos (1):

You can switch to the Compact view to hide the other participants’ video feeds and use even less screen space (2):

This change does not affect the experience when you share your screen in a meeting.
