Main points:

  • Transition to General Availability (GA): New Outlook for Windows will move from the Preview phase to General Availability for commercial accounts
  • Impact on Existing Users: Existing users who continue to use the classic Outlook for Windows won’t be affected by this change
  • Opt-In Experience: The new Outlook remains an opt-in experience. Users won’t be automatically switched to the new version; they can choose to adopt it based on their preferences.
  • No Settings Changes: This update won’t alter any organisation settings related to Outlook. Administrators can maintain their existing configurations
  • Notice for Migration Steps: Microsoft commits to providing a 12-month notice before initiating any migration steps in managed environments
  • The app name for the classic Outlook for Windows will include “(classic)” starting from version 2407
