Copilot

🔜 Infinite scroll for Copilot chat history


Microsoft 365 Copilot will introduce infinite scroll for chat history, allowing you to easily access older conversations as additional chat sessions load automatically as you scroll. You will be able to view your full chat history directly in the navigation pane, giving you a smoother experience when browsing past conversations.

🔜 Updated handling of work entities added in the Copilot Chat box


In Copilot, you can use the + menu to add work content to a prompt. How those added ‘entities’ appear is changing. Due mid to late February 2026. Read more.


🔜 Microsoft 365 Copilot: Copy tables from Chat
Microsoft: “We’re introducing the ability for users to copy tables created when using Chat in Microsoft 365 Copilot. This enhancement makes it easier for users to take AI‑generated structured content—such as comparison tables, checklists, and summaries—and reuse it directly in documents, emails, spreadsheets, and other Microsoft 365 apps”.

🕔 Add web links as references in Copilot Notebooks
Microsoft is adding the ability to add public web links as references in Copilot Notebooks, allowing you to ground Copilot responses on specific public web pages.

🕔 Content Sources in Copilot Chat
Microsoft: “We’re introducing a new capability that allows users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license to scope and control Copilot Chat responses by selecting specific content sources. This enhancement is designed to improve the relevance and accuracy of Copilot responses by limiting them to user-selected sources, aligning with customer feedback for more transparent and customizable AI interactions”.

🕔 New policy to add watermarks to content generated or altered by using AI in Microsoft 365
Really, this is for the admins to manage, but it will still be of interest to the rest of us. Microsoft will give admins a policy setting in Microsoft 365 that lets them add visual or audio watermarks to any AI‑generated or AI‑altered video or audio you create. Even if they choose not to use watermarks, Microsoft will still add extra metadata to any AI‑generated or AI‑altered video, audio, or images.

The Microsoft 365 Copilot podcast feature is gaining real-time voice interactions. Now due early March to early April 2026. Read more.


🕔 Microsoft 365 Copilot: Session persistence enhancement for Copilot chat
Microsoft: “We’re improving the reliability of Copilot chat by ensuring that conversations are preserved even when users navigate away from a chat. With this update, a session entry is created in the navigation pane as soon as a prompt is submitted. This allows users to return to the conversation later without losing context or progress”.

🕔 Navigation refresh in the M365 Copilot app
Microsoft is updating the Microsoft 365 Copilot app. They claim it has a “simplified, flattened navigation menu with logically grouped features”. Now due December 2025 to late February 2026. Read more.


🕔 New M365 Copilot Researcher output formats
Microsoft is adding new output formats to the Researcher agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot: PowerPoint, PDF, Infographic, and Audio overview. Now due late February to early April 2026. Read more.


🕔 The M365 Copilot Researcher agent gets new output controls
Microsoft is introducing new output control features in the Microsoft 365 Copilot Researcher agent. Now due late September 2025 to late February 2026. Read more.


🕔 Real-time voice conversation is coming to M365 Copilot
Real-time voice is coming to M365 Copilot Chat and M365 Copilot, offering a great alternative to typing-based interactions. Now due from early September 2025 for mobile, due in desktop and the web from December 2025 to March 2026. Read more.


🕔 Updates to memory and personalisation


Microsoft will soon update Memory in Microsoft 365 Copilot to improve personalisation by using your chat history to tailor responses, making interactions more relevant and helpful. You will see a redesigned Memory settings page with clearer controls, allowing you to easily view and manage what Copilot remembers.

🕔 Anthropic models will be available by default in Copilot experiences
Update from Microsoft: “Rollout is taking longer than anticipated as we complete additional validation. During this phased rollout, the Anthropic option in Researcher may not yet be visible in all tenants; the existing Researcher functionality remains unchanged. We will provide another update in this post when rollout to Researcher is complete”. 🔭 Copilot Search Helps You Discover People
Microsoft: “Now Copilot Search can return matching people for your broader people search queries. Allowing you to discover, disambiguate, and explore known and new people to contact. Discover Whether you’re looking for people with a specific skill like “Project leadership” or “Artificial Intelligence” Copilot Search can help you explore potential contacts through the People data source. Disambiguate When there are multiple people matching in exact name, email, or alias Copilot Search will help you disambiguate through a new carousel on the main results page alongside other relevant results”.

Wondering why you would use this? Microsoft: “Agents in OneDrive lets you group files and folders together, so you can ask questions, get summaries, and find key details across your project—without having to reselect items each time. Agents are saved in your OneDrive and can be shared with your team, making collaboration and staying up to date easier”. Read more.


🕔 Simplified file transfer for departing employees
Microsoft: “OneDrive enhancements simplify file management for departing employees by improving notifications, filtering, and enabling bulk file transfers that preserve sharing. Access transfers automatically to managers with email alerts”.

Outlook

✅ Create and view Outlook rules in M365 Copilot
Updated information from Microsoft: “Supported platforms: Available via Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat (Work mode). When used within Outlook, it’s supported on Classic and New Outlook for Windows, Outlook on the web, Outlook for Mac, and Outlook mobile (iOS and Android)”. Now due early February to mid-March 2026. Microsoft 365 Copilot: Email triage with pin, flag, archive, and mark as read

🔜 Scheduling with Copilot in classic Outlook for Windows


Microsoft will introduce a new way to schedule meetings directly from Copilot in classic Outlook for Windows, helping you find availability, reserve rooms, draft agendas, and send invitations by selecting Schedule with Copilot in the Outlook interface. This feature will be available if you have a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence.

🕔 New way to include email in Copilot chat prompts
You will soon be able to include email in your Copilot prompts without manually uploading them. Now due early October 2025 to late March 2026. Read more.


🕔 New “Prepare” button added to the “Up Next” card for Microsoft 365 Copilot users


Microsoft: “To help users better prepare for upcoming meetings, Microsoft is enhancing the Up Next card experience in Microsoft 365. A new Prepare button will replace the Join button up to 5 minutes before a meeting starts, offering a one-tap way to access Copilot’s meeting preparation tools”.

🔭 Microsoft Edge: Auto-open Copilot side pane for Outlook links
Microsoft: “When users open links from Outlook, Microsoft Edge can automatically open the Copilot side pane to provide contextual insights and actionable suggestion chips based on email and destination content – such as highlighting key points, and recommending next actions – without disrupting the browsing flow. This experience helps users quickly understand content, take action with fewer steps, and get more value from Copilot while extending productive browsing time in Edge”.

🔭 Copilot Chat available in shared and delegate mailboxes
Microsoft: “Shared mailbox users and delegates with full access permission will now be able to access Copilot Chat, directly from their shared and delegate mailboxes in new Outlook”.

🚫 Outlook Web App: OneView and TrueTime features will retire
Microsoft: “We’re retiring the OneView and TrueTime features from Outlook Web App (OWA)OneView allows users to connect personal email accounts—such as Outlook.com, Gmail, or other IMAP accounts—to their work mailbox in OWA, providing a unified view of multiple inboxes. TrueTime allows users to view personal and work calendars together in OWA for consolidated scheduling. Once these features are retired, users will no longer be able to connect personal accounts or view personal calendar information inside OWA”.

🚫 Cancelled: Copilot in Outlook mobile to highlight emails that need your attention.
Updated 4th February 2026 by Microsoft: “This feature has been removed from outlook for iOS and Android in response to user feedback and costs. We apologize for any inconvenience”.  Read more.


🚫 Context IQ retirement in the new Outlook and Outlook on the web
Microsoft: “We are retiring Context IQ in the new Outlook and Outlook on the web. This feature currently allows users to insert suggested files and other content by typing the “/” character while composing an email. We are retiring this capability to streamline the compose experience and reduce duplication with other supported attachment and editor workflows”.

PowerPoint, Word and Excel

🔜 Copilot entry point changes in Word and handoff to Agent in chat
Microsoft will update the entry points for Copilot in Word, and you will see the existing Copilot entry point in the left margin replaced with a consolidated entry point positioned in the bottom right corner; when you select content, you will see contextual Copilot entry points – on Windows and web inside the selection floatie, and on Mac in the right‑click context menu – while the Word Agent in the right‑side chat pane will become your primary Copilot experience for prompts and responses, and all Copilot entry points, both consolidated and contextual, will connect to Word Agent to ensure you have a unified experience. 🔜 Changes to creating presentations with Copilot


In PowerPoint, the Copilot icon will replace the Sparkle icon as the method for starting a presentation or slide using Copilot. Due mid-March to mid-April. Read more.


🔜 Files in Outlook for iOS will open in Word, Excel or PowerPoint app on iPad
Microsoft: We’re conducting an experiment that changes how Word, Excel, and PowerPoint file attachments open in Outlook for iOS. For iPad users only, these files may open directly in the Word, Excel, or PowerPoint apps when they are installed, instead of using the in-app previewer”.
Reference: MC1227071. The experiment started early to mid-February 2026, and the decision whether to proceed with or stop the rollout will be made around late March 2026.


🔜 Agent Mode in Copilot is coming to PowerPoint for the web


Agent Mode in Copilot for PowerPoint web lets you create and refine presentations using natural conversation, whilst preserving formatting and branding. Due mid-February to mid-March 2026. Read more.


🔜 Microsoft 365 Copilot | PowerPoint now supports enterprise image libraries via AEM (Adobe Experience Manager)
Microsoft: “Microsoft 365 Copilot in PowerPoint will soon support enterprise image libraries hosted on Adobe Experience Manager (AEM). This integration allows users to generate slides using branded images from your organization’s asset library, helping maintain brand consistency and streamline content creation”.

🕔 Microsoft 365 Copilot: Generate text for a PowerPoint slide using slide context
Microsoft: “Copilot in PowerPoint is getting smarter. Soon, users will be able to generate a compelling title, concise summary, or captions for visuals simply by describing what they want in natural language. Copilot will use the context of the slide to generate relevant text, helping users turn ideas into content quickly and efficiently”. You will see a new Copilot dropdown (pen icon) appear in blank text boxes.

🕔 Open Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Files in Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat
Microsoft is updating the file-opening experience in Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat. When you click on cited Word, Excel, or PowerPoint content in Copilot Chat, the file currently opens in a new browser tab. With this update, supported files can be opened directly in Copilot chat. This change applies only to Copilot Chat in the web experience.

🔭 M365 Copilot: Reference a PowerPoint deck’s style when creating a new presentation with Agent Mode in PowerPoint
Microsoft: “When creating a presentation with Copilot in PowerPoint using Agent Mode, you can reference an existing PowerPoint file, so Copilot applies its theme and styles to the new deck, keeping the design consistent”.

🔭 M365 Copilot can edit your document by default in Word

Microsoft will update the filter pane in SharePoint Document Libraries and Lists and hopes to deliver a faster, more flexible filtering experience without changing the core functionality. Due mid to late February 2026. Read more.


🕔 New SharePoint web part for FAQs, powered by M365 Copilot
A new web part for FAQs will curate FAQ content by working with your grounding information. By selecting one or more grounding source files, Copilot will generate the FAQ content, thereby reducing the time and effort required for creating FAQs. Now due May 2026. Read more.


🕔 SharePoint document libraries are getting a new user experience
SharePoint document library user experience changes affect breadcrumb navigation, custom views, filter pills, and the command bar. Now due early to late February 2026. Read more.


🕔 SharePoint News web part is getting a new ‘See All’ experience
The SharePoint News web part is getting a new ‘See All’ experience. Now due late February to mid-March 2026. Read more.


🕔 Create structured documents using Microsoft Forms and SharePoint
Microsoft is introducing a new way to create structured documents using Microsoft Forms and SharePoint. Now due mid-February to late March 2026 in preview only. General release no longer has a date. Read more.


🚫 Reminder: SharePoint 2013 workflow retirement
Microsoft: “SharePoint 2013 workflows will be disabled for new tenants starting April 2, 2024, and fully retired for all tenants on April 2, 2026. Organizations must migrate to Power Automate or other solutions, notify users, and prepare support teams accordingly”.

Teams

🔜 Flexible layouts for meetings with a resizable horizontal divider


Microsoft will introduce a new flexible layout option in Teams meetings to give you more control over how shared content and participant videos appear. You will see a new resizable divider in the top gallery during content sharing, allowing you to adjust the space between shared content and the video gallery, prioritise presentation content or video tiles, and swap their positions based on your preference. This update will work with spotlighted speakers, pinned videos, and Speaker View, and will provide a more personalised meeting experience, particularly on large or ultra-wide displays.

🔜 Meeting audio recap language expansion in Microsoft Teams


Microsoft will roll out an update to Microsoft Teams Audio Recap that will expand support to eight additional languages, helping you access concise, podcast-style summaries of your meetings in your preferred language and improving inclusivity and meeting follow-up. Once the rollout is complete, Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish will be supported.

🔜 Context preservation in Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams will introduce context preservation that restores your recent conversation and view when you return after a short break, helping you resume work without resetting your workspace. If you return to a chat, channel or Quick View within 30 minutes, your previously selected tab, layout, any open side panel and, in Quick View, the selected message will be restored. If you return more than 30 minutes later, the conversation or view will open in the default layout, and your previous context will not be restored.

🔜 Reduced automatic updates in Meet Now channel meeting threads
Microsoft will improve Meet now channel meetings in Microsoft Teams by reducing automatic meeting updates in channel conversations, helping you keep channels cleaner and focused on real replies. You will see only a single “Meeting started” message in the channel, while other updates, such as meeting end or recording notifications, will appear in the meeting thread, where you can access join options, details, and recaps.

🔜 New controls for Quick views, such as Mentions and Followed threads


Quick views, such as Mentions and Followed threads, which appear at the top of chat and channel lists, will only appear when there are unread items.  Due late March to mid-April 2026. Read more.


🔜 Events in Meet app – Introducing a redesigned, unified Events experience in Microsoft Teams
Microsoft will introduce a redesigned Meet app in Microsoft Teams, providing a unified Events experience. This update intends to modernise how you create, find, and manage webinars, town halls, and custom events within a single workflow, while your existing Meetings and Audio recap experiences will remain unchanged.


You will see a redesigned Events home, event landing pages with Q&A and polls, support for shared and delegate mailboxes, and a seamless upgrade path for current webinars and town halls. Existing events will not be affected, admin controls will remain the same, and Classic Meet will continue to be available during preview and general availability.

🔜 Teams channels with the threads layout get a new ongoing meetings indicator


If you use the threads layout for Teams channels, you will soon see a new ‘ongoing meetings’ indicator. Due early to mid-March 2026. Read more.


🔜 Microsoft is hiding app names on the Teams app bar


Microsoft is planning to give your Teams app bar a clean look by hiding app names, but it will do so by default. Due late February to early March 2026. Read more.


🕔 Microsoft Teams private channels: bigger limits & new features
Microsoft is enhancing private channels, offering up to 1000 channels per team, 5000 members per channel, enabled meetings, and simplified compliance. Now due early October 2025 to early April 2026. Read more.


🕔 The Teams meeting notes feature is coming to instant meetings
The Teams meeting notes feature is being made available for instant calls and meetings, such as those started from Meet now and calls started from chat. Now due mid-April to mid-May 2026. Read more.


🕔 Express voice enrolment in Microsoft Teams
Express voice enrolment in Teams will register your voice profile. A voice profile enables features such as voice isolation, speaker recognition, identification in meeting rooms, improved transcripts, and enhanced meeting recaps and insights powered by M365 Copilot. If you haven’t enrolled yet, you’ll receive a prompt to opt in and enrol by speaking during a meeting. This feature will be ON by default, but can be disabled by your organisation.

🕔 Microsoft Teams gets a simplified app bar


Microsoft is simplifying the Microsoft Teams app bar as they try to create a cleaner, more focused workspace. Due early April 2026. Read more.


🕔 Distinguish invites among Attendee, Presenter, and Co-organiser emails
Microsoft: “Microsoft Teams Events invite emails will be separated based on the role of the participant. Event organizers will get an email explaining the specific roles of participants in the event. Similarly, each presenter will get a separate calendar invite, allowing the organizers of town halls to maintain separate invites for attendees”.

🕔 Select up to five Teams messages to forward
Teams will soon allow you to forward up to five messages in a single bundle. Now due early to mid-February 2026 Read more.


🕔 Prevent accidental sends in Teams chat by choosing your ‘Enter’ key behaviour
Teams will soon have a setting to prevent the Enter key from accidentally sending chat messages. Now due late February 2026. Read more.


🔭 Recently used emojis sync across devices
Microsoft: “Recently used emojis and reactions sync across Teams on desktop and mobile, making it easier to express yourself wherever you work”.

🔭 Audio recap language expansion
Microsoft: “Audio recap in Teams will begin supporting 8 new languages. These are (in alphabetical order) Chinese, variations across English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish”.

🔭 Hide meetings toolbar
Microsoft: “Users can now hide their entire meeting controls toolbar during meetings to create more space or simply clean up their workspace. The setting will persist across their meetings, and the toolbar can be accessed through hover or tab functionality even when in hidden mode. Keyboard shortcuts will still remain active as they are today”.

🔭 Image viewer improvements enable scrolling and jumping to original message
Microsoft: “Lightbox enhancements let users scroll through all previously shared images in a conversation, provide a clearer visual focus on the image being viewed, and add a header option that jumps directly to the original message where the image was posted”.

🔜 Viva Engage: New option to hide a user’s messages


Microsoft will introduce a moderation control in Viva Engage that will let you hide another user’s messages, reducing unwanted interactions while keeping communities intact; hidden users’ thread starters will vanish from your Home Feed and email digests, appear collapsed with click‑to‑reveal elsewhere, and all their comments will also collapse, although you will not be able to hide designated leaders, corporate communicators, network or verified admins, or Engage admins.
