Microsoft: “Microsoft 365 Copilot will soon offer AI-generated audio overviews for Word documents, PDF files, and Teams meeting recordings stored in OneDrive”. Due early to late May 2025. Read more.
🔜 A Copilot Prompt Gallery redesign and organisational prompts

The Copilot Prompt Gallery app is being redesigned with a new home page and prompts from your organisation. Due early to mid-May 2025. Read more.
🔜 Microsoft 365 Copilot: Search for and select Teams Chats in Context IQ to scope prompts
Microsoft: “With this new feature, users will be able to search for and select Teams Chats in Context IQ (CIQ) to scope their prompts in BizChat.” and “Users will be able to ground their prompts in BizChat to the Teams Chats that they have access to. More details will be published for users here when this feature releases: Using Context IQ to refer to specific files, people, and more in Microsoft 365 Copilot“.

🔜 Microsoft Copilot Studio – Introducing Draft with Copilot
Microsoft: “When authoring a prompt, the prompt builder will allow you to trigger Copilot to assist in turning your intent into a more effective prompt that follows best practices and produces better outcomes. Additionally, Copilot can also generate sample test data to assist in running your validations quicker”.

🔜 Microsoft 365 Copilot mobile apps: Generate images
Copilot licence holders will be able to create images using natural language in iOS/Android mobile apps for Microsoft 365 Copilot, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Outlook. In the Chat tab of the Microsoft 365 Copilot mobile app, ask Copilot to generate an image, like these very cool cats:

🔜 Microsoft Copilot Studio – Conversational agent creation experience
You will soon be able to use Microsoft Copilot Studio’s new feature to easlily create a personalised conversational agent by generating essential elements such as its name, description, instructions, and prompt through simple conversations, and configuring web knowledge sources and other specifics using a straightforward interface.

🔜 M365 Copilot gets better file grounding refinement

The Files tab in the M365 prompt box is gaining ‘Type’ and ‘People’ filters to help you ground your prompt in content that matters to you. Due late April to mid-May 2025. Read more.
🔜 Microsoft 365 Copilot: New Researcher and Analyst agents
As a Microsoft 365 Copilot-licensed user, you will soon gain access to two new deep reasoning agents, Researcher and Analyst, which will initially be available in English only. Researcher will combine OpenAI’s deep research model with Copilot’s advanced orchestration and deep search capabilities to assist you in tackling complex, multi-step research tasks at work, reasoning over work and web data, including third-party data. Analyst will leverage OpenAI’s o3-mini reasoning model, optimised for advanced data analysis at work, using chain-of-thought reasoning and Python to iteratively refine its responses and provide high-quality answers. These agents will start rolling out in April as part of the new “Frontier” programme, offering early access to new Copilot innovations while they are still in development. If the timing changes, you will be notified.

🕔 Microsoft 365 Copilot: Users can search Copilot Chat sessions
Microsoft: “Before this rollout: Users can only skim and scroll through their Copilot chat sessions to find a desired session. After this rollout: Users will be able to type keywords to search their chat sessions. As a user begins typing, session results will appear based on the keyword(s), and users can select the session that corresponds to their search”.

🕔 Ground your M365 Copilot prompts in SharePoint and OneDrive
When writing Copilot prompts in the chat box, you will soon be able to point your prompts (ground) at specific SharePoint/OneDrive folders and SharePoint sites. Now due early to mid-May 2025. Read more.
🕔 Prepare for your meeting with Microsoft 365 Copilot and Outlook
Microsoft 365 Copilot in Outlook will soon help you prepare for upcoming meetings by summarising key information such as the purpose, action items, pre-reads and related discussions. Now due late January to late April 2025. Read more.
🕔 Microsoft Copilot in Edge: New contextual features like page summary on Microsoft 365 Copilot Business Chat “Work” tab
Microsoft: “Microsoft Copilot in Edge will introduce support for page summarization and contextual queries to the Work tab for Microsoft 365 Copilot Business Chat. With this feature, users can ask Copilot contextual queries such as “summarize this page.” This feature will also include contextual prompt suggestions to help users ask relevant questions about open pages in Edge. Page summarization and contextual prompt suggestions will be accessible for users when using Copilot through the Edge side pane”.

🔭 M365 Copilot can generate an audio overview of a notebook
Microsoft: “Copilot can turn the referenced files in a notebook into a dynamic audio overview, transforming them into a listening experience that’s easy to follow. To generate an audio overview in Copilot Notebooks, select ˜Generate audio overview” at the top of the notebook. This capability is only available in English currently”.

🔭 M365 Copilot can generate an audio overview of your Word document
Microsoft: “Copilot can turn your Word document into a dynamic audio overview, transforming it into a listening experience that’s easy to follow. Ask Copilot to generate an audio overview in the Copilot chat pane, and Copilot will bring your content to life through a podcast-style discussion between two hosts. This capability is only available in English currently. The ability for users to configure the audio overview format and adjust things like style, number of speakers, and length will be available later”.

Starting in late April 2025, users of Copilot Chat without a Microsoft 365 Copilot license will have a daily limit on the number of images they can generate. The daily limit for images is not publicly disclosed and is subject to change. Once they reach the daily limit, they may receive an in-product message informing them that they have reached their daily allotment for image generations and will need a Copilot license to create additional images or to wait until the next day when their allotment refreshes”.

You will soon be able to use Microsoft 365 Copilot in Forms to reference existing documents and forms when creating new forms. This feature will allow you to select the paperclip to reference content from Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other forms into your new forms. However, you will only be able to reference files with sensitivity labels of ‘General’ or below.

🔜 New Microsoft Outlook: How shared mailboxes are displayed in the folder pane to align with Outlook classic

Microsoft: “Coming soon for new Microsoft Outlook for Windows desktop: To align with the behavior of classic Outlook for Windows, we will display shared mailboxes in the same way accounts are displayed and add a Shared icon to give users a visual distinction between standard mailboxes and shared mailboxes”.

🔜 Outlook mobile: Edit a recurring event from a chosen date going forward by selecting ‘This and all following events’

🔜 Category shortcuts are coming to new Outlook

Assign a shortcut to function keys ranging from CTRL+F2 to CTRL+F12. Already available in Outlook classic. Manage category shortcuts Settings > Accounts > Categories…look out for the new column called Shortcut.

🔜 View and manage shared email accounts you can access using ‘Shared with me’

Outlook (new and web) will soon have a new page called Shared with me where you can view and manage shared email accounts you have access to. Due early June to early July 2025. Read more.
🔜 Draft with Copilot, Highlight and Rewrite coming to classic Outlook for Windows.
Coming to Outlook classic: You will be able to use Draft with Copilot to enhance sections of your email drafts. Highlight a specific section and use Draft with Copilot to refine the text of the highlighted portion.

🔜 Open attachments while offline in the new Outlook

You will soon be able to open and save attachments from your emails without an internet connection in the new Outlook for Windows. This functionality will be limited to file attachments; OneDrive and SharePoint links in the body of emails will still require an internet connection. To use this functionality, you must ensure that Offline mode and offline attachments are enabled.

🕔 Agents in Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat in Outlook
Microsoft: “Agents extend the capability of Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat in exciting ways, letting users customize their Copilot experience. From Copilot in Outlook, the right-side panel will show agents that the user has previously installed or that their admin has previously deployed. The panel will also provide entry points to Get Copilot agents in the app store and to Create an agent”.

🕔 Add shared folders to Favourites in Outlook for Windows and web

Microsoft: “This new functionality will enable users to add shared folders and individual folders from shared mailboxes to their Favorites. This means that users can easily access important folders from shared resources or individual colleagues, directly from their Favorites. 🕔 Use Microsoft Outlook to quickly see who is in the office with you
New Outlook for Windows and Outlook web are getting a new calendar feature to show who will be in the office. Now due early October 2024 to late April 2025. Read more.
🕔 Message recall in the Outlook app for iOS and Android
Microsoft: “From the Microsoft Outlook for iOS and Android apps, you can request that Outlook to attempt to recall a message sent to a colleague within your organization” and “sers will have the option to request a recall attempt for a sent email. This feature provides an additional layer of control for users who need to retract emails sent in error”.

Microsoft: “The ability to find text when reading email on Outlook will be supported. This feature will bear resemblance to F4 on Outlook for Windows, or Ctrl+F in another apps”.

🔭 Improved interaction in the subject header section on Outlook on the Web and New Outlook for Windows
Microsoft: “The subject header section that shows up at the top when reading an email will be improved. This includes the component that contains meeting information when looking at a meeting invitation and other similar components. The subject header section will be more sensitive to available space and allow for a more comfortable reading experience when on smaller screens or on displays with high scale factors”.

🔭 Jump to a row in the Message List on Outlook on the Web and New Outlook for Windows
Microsoft: “We’re making it possible to jump to a row in the Message List by typing. For example, while sorted by “From”, you’ll be able to type “Philip” to jump to the first row where the sender is “Philip””.

🚫 Work Hours and Location (WHL) comes to the Outlook My Day pane

🔜 Select templates to ensure the Copilot-generated presentations stay on brand
You will soon be able to select templates from a collection provided by your organisation to ensure on-brand Copilot-generated presentations. Alternatively, you can choose from a handpicked collection of Microsoft templates to ensure beautifully designed presentations. However, your organisation must set up your Office Template Library and upload your enterprise templates as per the instructions provided here: Create an organization assets library – SharePoint in Microsoft 365 | Microsoft Learn.

- Reference folders when using Copilot: You will be able to reference a whole folder stored on OneDrive or SharePoint, instead of adding files, emails, and meetings one by one. Copilot will use the 10 most recent files as the basis of the content it generates.
- Support for larger documents in Word Copilot: You will be able to reference large documents up to 1.5 million words or 3000 pages, as Microsoft continue to expand the size limits of what we support.
- More files can be referenced in Draft with Copilot in Word: You will be able to reference up to 20 items such as files, emails, and meetings when using the Draft with Copilot command.

Microsoft: “Remove the 22-inch size limit and modernize Access forms and reports work well on large format monitors and provide responsive behavior for different form factors”.

Microsoft: “Camera in our editor will be updated to a newer version with improved recording controls and command bar options”.

🚫 Limited Microsoft Planner Functionality for Shared Mailbox Users
Microsoft: “Shared mailbox users will no longer be able to add or edit tasks, upload attachments, or add comments in Microsoft Planner due to permission model limitations. A temporary workaround is available but will be phased out in 30 days. Convert shared mailboxes to user mailboxes for uninterrupted functionality“.

🚫 Support for Office 2016, Office 2019, and additional apps will end on 14th October 2025
Microsoft: “As previously communicated, support for Office 2016 and Office 2019 will end on October 14, 2025. After that date, no further updates, security fixes, or technical support will be available for these versions of Office. While the applications may continue to function, using unsupported software could lead to potential security risks, compliance risks, system incompatibilities, and other issues”.
