Microsoft will soon enable Planner tabs in Shared and Private channels, providing task collaboration where restricted membership or cross-organisation collaboration is required.

Main points:
- Only basic plans are being made available; premium capabilities will come later.
- Add using the familiar + (Add a tab) experience.
- Create a new plan for the channel, or add an existing plan associated with it (2).
- Planner inherits channel permissions and Microsoft 365 compliance controls.
- Planner plans in shared and private channels will use the channel SharePoint for storage and access.
- Membership will be limited to channel members.
Availability
Due mid to late May 2026.
