Short Version
Copilot Cowork is now generally available worldwide, bringing multi-model support, new plugins, updated skill management and navigation, Microsoft Purview integration, and support for branded templates and image creation. Rolled out mid to late June 2026.

Details
This generally available release expands what Cowork can do: multi-model support with OpenAI’s GPT-5.5 Thinking, a growing plugin ecosystem, updated skill management, refreshed navigation, Microsoft Purview integration, and support for branded templates and image creation.

The way you open Cowork has changed too – it moves from a separate “agent” entry point in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app across web, Windows, macOS, iOS and Android and now has its own Cowork tab (1) alongside a new Home tab (2), with a new layout that surfaces the tasks needing your input and an option to view more of what you’ve been working on.

Frontier remains Microsoft’s early-access channel, so Frontier users keep getting new innovations first, including the latest model access (OpenAI GPT-5.5) and browser use via Microsoft Edge.

Accessing Cowork now requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence plus usage-based billing through Copilot Credits; there is no Cowork usage bundled with the Copilot licence itself.

Availability
Rolled out mid to late June 2026.
