Short Version
OneDrive is getting a new option when adding shortcuts, letting you save them to a dedicated Shortcuts folder rather than always dropping them in the root of My files. Due mid to late July 2026.

Details
When you add a shortcut in OneDrive, you’ll be able to choose whether to save it to a new dedicated Shortcuts folder or to My files. For file shortcuts, an Other locations option is also available. The Shortcuts folder is created automatically the first time you use it; if you already have a folder named Shortcuts, that folder is reused. It has a unique colour and building icon so it stands out in your file list, and a confirmation message tells you where each shortcut was saved. Existing shortcuts stay where they are.

Availability
Due mid to late July 2026.
