Microsoft are bringing back the Coming Soon option to preview the new location for the Mail, Calendar, People, Tasks, and other modules in Outlook for Windows. Due mid to late November late January 2022 available now (April 2022).

The Coming Soon option in Outlook for Windows will allow you to toggle on the new experience at your convenience:
Once turned on, the Mail, Calendar, People, Tasks and other modules will move from the bottom of the folder pane to the left side of the folder pane in Outlook for Windows. This new user experience will also provide quick access to additional Microsoft 365 applications such as To Do, Yammer, Bookings, Org Explorer, and open them directly from Outlook’s main canvas. You will be able to customise which apps show in this location by pinning your favourite apps.
