Short Version
Microsoft Teams is refreshing the in-meeting experience with two coordinated updates – simplified meeting controls and a redesigned share panel. Together, they make core actions easier to find, cut accidental clicks, and give you more confidence when sharing content. Due early to late August 2026.

Details
As Teams has added meeting capabilities over time, the controls and share panel have grown crowded, leading to mis-clicks between high-impact actions like Share, Leave and Raise hand, and to accidental shares of unintended content. Based on customer feedback and telemetry, Microsoft is introducing two coordinated changes.

For meeting controls: the controls become centre-aligned, with microphone, camera and share grouped together (1); the Leave button (2) is separated to reduce accidental exits; and less-used actions move into a reorganised More menu (3). You can also personalise the controls by pinning, unpinning and rearranging them with drag and drop:

For sharing: the redesigned share panel adds live previews of screens and windows, a tabbed layout (Screens & Apps, Interactive Files, More options), and a two-step share confirmation to reduce accidental sharing:

The new experience is enabled by default and can’t be disabled at the tenant level. During rollout you can opt in early and temporarily return to the previous experience from Teams settings. Existing meeting app pinning policies continue to be honoured, and new policies support up to two apps pinned to the main meeting controls, with additional apps available in the More menu.
