Short Version
Microsoft is renaming the Viva Connections app in Microsoft Teams to the SharePoint app. Due early to late June 2026.
Rename details:
Microsoft is renaming the Viva Connections app (1) in Teams to the SharePoint app (2) and updating the SharePoint home site experience. If your organisation has an existing Viva Connections experience with a configured app name and logo in Teams, this update will not change your current branding or experience. Otherwise, the Viva Connections app in Teams will be renamed to the SharePoint app in Teams.
SharePoint home site update details:
- A new Resources web part will be available to highlight key links, tools, and destinations.
- A new Announcements web part.
- A new customisation experience for the SharePoint app in Teams will be available, allowing admins to tailor the app’s experience on Teams desktop and mobile.
- These updates apply only to designated SharePoint home sites.
