Do you remember when the meeting co-organiser role came to Teams? It was an excellent and very welcome addition. However, it was missing some capabilities that even Breakout Rooms Presenter support didn’t address. Well, the Microsoft Teams folk have been busy…

TL;DR:
Users assigned the co-organiser role in the main meeting will be able to create and manage Breakout Rooms on behalf of the organiser and be able to access/modify meeting options for any Breakout Room. Due mid to late January 2022.

Details:

Co-organisers will be able to create, manage and move between Breakout Rooms like meeting organisers. Updated capabilities:

  • Create rooms
  • Configure room settings, including appointing additional Breakout Room managers
  • Assign participants
  • Add/Remove rooms
  • Open/Close rooms
  • Send announcements
  • Rename/Delete rooms

But still cannot:

  • Pre-create Rooms
  • Pre-assign participants

Breakout Room Creation/Management will only be possible during live meeting for co-organisers.
