Short Version
Microsoft is adding new Channel Agent features in Teams to improve collaboration, onboarding, control, and in-channel actions. Due early to late March 2026.

Details
Microsoft is introducing new capabilities for the Channel Agent in Teams. The updates aim to improve how agents support collaboration, enhance agent welcome messages, give you more control over agent creation, and expand agent actions within channels.

Changes:

  • New Channel Agents will generate customised welcome messages based on channel context.
  • You can disable automatic Channel Agent creation during team or channel setup.
  • You will see improved scheduling suggestions as the agent uses updated calendar logic.
  • You can ask the agent to add members to a channel with a prompt such as “@agent add John Doe to this channel.”
  • Channel Agents can post messages directly to a channel.

Availability
Due early to late March 2026.
