🕔 New M365 Copilot Researcher output formats
Microsoft is adding new output formats to the Researcher agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot: PowerPoint, PDF, Infographic, and Audio overview. Now due mid to late April 2026. Read more.
🕔 Add web links as references in Copilot Notebooks
Microsoft is adding the ability to add public web links as references in Copilot Notebooks, allowing you to ground Copilot responses on specific public web pages.

🕔 New policy to add watermarks to content generated or altered by using AI in Microsoft 365
Really, this is for the admins to manage, but it will still be of interest to the rest of us. Microsoft will give admins a policy setting in Microsoft 365 that lets them add visual or audio watermarks to any AI‑generated or AI‑altered video or audio you create. Even if they choose not to use watermarks, Microsoft will still add extra metadata to any AI‑generated or AI‑altered video, audio, or images.

🕔 Upload local files now supports .eml and .msg file types
Microsoft is adding support for .eml and .msg file uploads in Microsoft 365 Copilot, allowing you to upload email files directly in Copilot Chat and the Microsoft 365 Copilot app so they can be used as grounding context when generating responses.

🕔 Real-time voice conversation is coming to M365 Copilot
Real-time voice is coming to M365 Copilot Chat and M365 Copilot, offering a great alternative to typing-based interactions. Now due from early September 2025 for mobile, due in desktop and the web from December 2025 to late April 2026. Read more.
🕔 Navigation refresh in the M365 Copilot app
Microsoft is updating the Microsoft 365 Copilot app. They claim it has a “simplified, flattened navigation menu with logically grouped features”. Now due December 2025 to late March 2026. Read more.
🕔 Microsoft Read Aloud gets Copilot real-time voice interactions
Microsoft Read Aloud will become an interactive experience with Copilot Q&A, letting you ask questions and refine understanding in real time. This will improve accessibility, comprehension, and focus. You will get a new voice-driven Read Aloud, while others will keep the classic version. A Copilot licence is required for the new experience.

The Microsoft 365 Copilot podcast feature is gaining real-time voice interactions. Now due early May to late June 2026. Read more.
🕔 Infinite scroll for Copilot chat history
Microsoft 365 Copilot will introduce infinite scroll for chat history, allowing you to easily access older conversations as additional chat sessions load automatically as you scroll. You will be able to view your full chat history directly in the navigation pane, giving you a smoother experience when browsing past conversations.

🕔 Updated handling of work entities added in the Copilot Chat box
In Copilot, you can use the + menu to add work content to a prompt. How those added ‘entities’ appear is changing. Now due mid-February to mid-March 2026. Read more.

Microsoft: “Microsoft is announcing the General Availability (GA) of federated Copilot connectors for Microsoft 365 Copilot. Federated Copilot connectors enable users to securely connect Copilot to popular third‑party sources and retrieve data in real time using the Model Context Protocol (MCP). These connectors do not store or index customer data in Microsoft services; access occurs in real time using the user’s identity, while administrators retain full governance and control through the Microsoft 365 admin center. With GA, federated Copilot connectors will be supported in Researcher agent, Microsoft 365 Chat, and Agent Mode in Excel, enabling users to bring external data directly into their workflows.”

🗞️ Wave 3 of Microsoft 365 Copilot
Microsoft have announced Wave 3 of Microsoft 365 Copilot, an update that embeds agentic capabilities directly into apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Copilot Chat. They are introducing Cowork, which enables Copilot to handle long‑running, multi‑step tasks using enterprise context through Work IQ, and integrating models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and others. Microsoft have also launched Agent 365, a new control plane that lets IT teams observe, secure, and govern all agents across the organisation, and unveiled Microsoft 365 E7: The Frontier Suite, which combines productivity, AI, identity, and advanced security. Overall, Microsoft say these updates mark a turning point where AI becomes a trusted, integrated part of daily work at enterprise scale.

🔜 View and edit Markdown files in OneDrive and SharePoint

OneDrive and SharePoint will soon let you view and edit Markdown (.md) files directly in the browser without downloads or third‑party tools; you will be able to open files in a clean, formatted view or use a built‑in editor with a side‑by‑side live preview, formatting toolbar, and rich rendering for tables, images, code blocks, and links, allowing you to create, edit, and organise Markdown files alongside your other files and content.

🔜 Improved OneDrive sync experience for macOS users


Microsoft will refresh the OneDrive Activity Centre on macOS to give you a cleaner, more intuitive way to check sync status, manage files, and resolve issues, with a redesigned interface that follows macOS conventions, improves accessibility with full VoiceOver and Full Keyboard Access support, and presents sync status, activity, and errors more clearly so you can resolve issues more easily.

Microsoft: “OneDrive desktop sync users now get clearer, more actionable error messages when file paths exceed the supported 520-character limit. The updated experience shows exactly how many characters a path exceeds the limit and points users to the specific folder location where they can shorten names to resolve the issue. When multiple files in the same folder are affected, a single consolidated message guides users to the right location, reducing error noise and making resolution faster. Available on both Windows and Mac.”

🔜 Outlook for Android: Unified user interface in text and image previewers
Microsoft will update the text and image file preview experience in Outlook for Android to give you a more consistent and predictable interface aligned with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint previewers, including updated styling, refreshed icons and action order in the overflow menu, and a new Expand button in the action bar to make full‑screen viewing easier.

🔜 Outlook for iOS: New attachment actions and updates to previewer experience
Microsoft will update attachment actions in Outlook for iOS to improve consistency and give you clearer options for previewing and sharing attachments, including new Preview and Send a copy actions and renamed options such as Share and Send a link, applied consistently across reading, compose, and file-related scenarios.

🔜 Outlook Mobile: New external image handling option for safe senders
Microsoft is updating how Outlook for iOS and Android handle external images by adding a new Load images for safe senders option, giving you more control over image loading while maintaining security and privacy, and aligning Outlook Mobile behaviour with Outlook for Windows (classic) and Outlook for Mac.

🔜 Outlook Mobile: Follow a meeting option
Microsoft will introduce a new Follow option for meetings in Outlook Mobile, which will help you stay informed when you cannot attend by prompting organisers to record the meeting and by ensuring you receive key updates and follow‑up items.

Microsoft will soon add support for sending locally stored Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files as email attachments in new Outlook for Windows, as part of their ongoing efforts to achieve feature parity between classic Outlook for Windows and the new Outlook.

🕔 New “Prepare” button added to the “Up Next” card for Microsoft 365 Copilot users

🕔 Agent Mode in Copilot is coming to PowerPoint for the web
Agent Mode in Copilot for PowerPoint web lets you create and refine presentations using natural conversation, whilst preserving formatting and branding. Now due mid-February to late April 2026. Read more.
🕔 Copilot entry point changes in Word and handoff to Agent in chat
Microsoft will update the entry points for Copilot in Word, and you will see the existing Copilot entry point in the left margin replaced with a consolidated entry point positioned in the bottom right corner; when you select content, you will see contextual Copilot entry points – on Windows and web inside the selection floatie, and on Mac in the right‑click context menu – while the Word Agent in the right‑side chat pane will become your primary Copilot experience for prompts and responses, and all Copilot entry points, both consolidated and contextual, will connect to Word Agent to ensure you have a unified experience. 🔜 Lists as a knowledge source for agents in SharePoint and OneDrive
Microsoft is introducing support for Lists as a knowledge source for custom agents in SharePoint and OneDrive, enabling responses to be grounded in one list stored on a SharePoint site or in OneDrive. You’ll also be able to create an agent directly from a list by selecting AI actions > Create an agent from the command bar.

🔜 SharePoint site and page analytics: AI citations analytics for documents and pages

Microsoft will add AI citations analytics to SharePoint so you can see how Copilot and other AI agents reference your documents, news posts, and pages. SharePoint will show AI citation rankings in Popular content, add a Total citations card to page analytics, and display a new AI citations metric in file statistics. A dedicated AI citations analytics page under Site Usage will show how many users access your content through AI, total site citations, and your most frequently cited items across Microsoft 365 Copilot experiences.

🕔 SharePoint document libraries and lists are getting an updated filter pane
Microsoft will update the filter pane in SharePoint Document Libraries and Lists, aiming to deliver a faster, more flexible filtering experience without changing the core functionality. Now due late March to mid-April 2026. Read more.
🕔 SharePoint introduces a new Workflows experience
SharePoint introduces a new Workflows experience aligned with the new Teams experience. Now due early April to early May 2026. Read more.
🔭 Plan and Create Pages with AI
Microsoft: “This feature allows you to edit new and existing pages with an AI chat pane. Now, with just prompts, you can add webparts, grounding documents, and refine the visuals and text on your page.”

🚫 Publishing InfoPath Forms in SharePoint Online will not be allowed for all tenants
Microsoft: “As announced earlier in MC616550 (June 2023), InfoPath Forms Service in SharePoint Online is being retired and will be removed from existing tenants after July 14, 2026. To support this transition and reduce future migration effort, Microsoft will prevent the publication of InfoPath forms in SharePoint Online for all tenants ahead of the service’s retirement.”

🔜 Auto-detect spoken language in multilingual meetings
Microsoft Teams will soon use automatic spoken language detection in multilingual meetings and hopes to improve the accuracy of live captions, transcripts and interpretation. Teams will detect each speaker’s language in real time as the conversation changes, removing the need for manual language selection and helping ensure more consistent recognition when Interpreter or multilingual speech recognition is enabled.

🔜 The Teams compose box is getting a new slash command to create workflows

You will soon be able to create workflows in the chat and channel compose boxes using the new slash command /createworkflow. Due late April to mid-May 2026. Read more.
🔜 Code block line numbers and improved keyboard accessibility
Microsoft will introduce improvements to the code block experience in Microsoft Teams Compose that will make it easier for you to read, share, and navigate code, with automatic line numbers, improved keyboard navigation, remembered language selection, and continued support for familiar insertion methods when you share code in chats or channels.

🔜 Manage multiple phone numbers within one Teams account
Microsoft is introducing Teams Phone user multi-line to give you greater flexibility when managing multiple business numbers, allowing administrators to assign up to ten telephone numbers to a single Teams Phone user so you can make and receive calls across all your numbers on Teams desktop, mobile, and devices without switching accounts. This is aimed at supporting scenarios such as maintaining a local presence in multiple regions, handling multiple roles or responsibilities, and managing several business lines in one account. The feature will be off by default and will require admin configuration before it becomes available.

🔜 Recently used emojis sync across devices
Teams will soon sync your recently used emojis and reactions across devices, giving you the same “recently used” list on Android, iOS, Mac, Windows desktop, and the web. The feature will be enabled by default, will respect your existing admin settings and messaging policies. Microsoft hope to create a more consistent experience when communicating across chats and channels.

Microsoft Teams will improve copy and paste for messages containing @mentions, shared contacts, and supported @tags by keeping tags interactive whenever they are valid in the destination conversation and falling back to plain text only when they cannot be used.

Microsoft will add live transcription to Teams Rooms on Android, letting you view real‑time transcripts on the device and, when enabled, translated text on the front‑of‑room screen; you will start transcription, confirm the spoken language, see a privacy notification, and rely on updated icons to show whether transcription or recording is active. Requires a Teams Rooms Pro licence.

Microsoft will introduce a redesigned Meet app in Microsoft Teams, providing a unified Events experience. This update intends to modernise how you create, find, and manage webinars, town halls, and custom events within a single workflow, while your existing Meetings and Audio recap experiences will remain unchanged.

You will see a redesigned Events home (view), event landing pages with Q&A and polls, support for shared and delegate mailboxes, and a seamless upgrade path for current webinars and town halls. Existing events will not be affected, admin controls will remain the same, and Classic Meet will continue to be available during preview and general availability.

Express voice enrolment in Teams will register your voice profile. A voice profile enables features such as voice isolation, speaker recognition, identification in meeting rooms, improved transcripts, and enhanced meeting recaps and insights powered by M365 Copilot. If you haven’t enrolled yet, you’ll receive a prompt to opt in and enrol by speaking during a meeting. This feature will be on by default, but can be disabled by your organisation.
