Page Analytics in SharePoint is getting new Page Analytics updates for some users. Now due late September to late October 2025.

Microsoft Viva Suite and Microsoft Viva Employee Communications and Communities license holders will soon see the below updates for SharePoint News posts. Without one of these licences, you will continue to see the existing Page Analytics. At some point, all of the below new functionality will be available for all SharePoint pages.

Here’s the list of changes from Microsoft:

  • Up to 365 days of data (up from 90 days).
  • Breakdown by distribution channels: For all Page Analytics charts (including Unique viewers, Total views, and Average time spent per user), you will be able to see the breakdown by distribution channels (Microsoft Outlook, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Viva Engage) where a news post was shared.
  • Two new metrics: Reactions and Promotions. Reactions will indicate how many times users have reacted to a post and a breakdown of reactions by positive, negative, and others to gauge user sentiment for a post. Promotions will indicate the total number of shares, @mentions, and email forwards a news post has received.
  • Export the analytics data to Excel or PowerPoint.
  • Audience calculation: Unique viewers as a percentage of number of users to which the post was shared.
  • Copy a chart as an image.
  • Upgraded page design.
