Short Version
Microsoft 365 Copilot license holders will be able to access source controls for the Researcher agent. Now due late September to late October 2025.

Details
Previously, Researcher had defaulted access to all sources—both work and web (unless blocked) – without any user-level controls to refine its scope. With source controls, Microsoft will enable you to select which sources Researcher should reason over. Available sources will include Web, Work, and additional options such as Connectors.

The Sources button will appear on the Prompt box across entry points for Researcher:

Key points:

  • Options include: Web, Work, and standard Graph entities (such as chats, meetings, emails and SharePoint etc.) will be supported from the date below.
  • Connector support will follow at a later date.
  • Source Controls will respect existing Web access settings.
  • Microsoft 365 Copilot licence required.

Availability
Due late August to mid-September 2025.
