Scheduled prompts for Copilot will enable automated prompts at specific times in Teams, m365.cloud.microsoft/chat and Outlook. Arrived early – late June 2025. Read more.


🔜 Access SharePoint agents in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app


Microsoft: “We’re introducing a new way to seamlessly access your most recently used SharePoint agents directly within the Microsoft 365 Copilot app—no need to navigate back to the SharePoint site. This enhancement helps users stay focused and productive by reducing context switching”. See the above image from Microsoft.

🔜 Announcing the Microsoft 365 Copilot app for Mac
Microsoft: “We’re excited to announce the Microsoft 365 Copilot app for MacOS—a streamlined way for Mac users to weave AI into their daily flow to move faster, stay focused, and get more done. Launch the Microsoft 365 Copilot app directly from the Dock on Mac devices to get AI-powered enterprise search, memory in chat, content creation tools, agents, and more”.

🔜 Researcher is being added to the M365 Copilot Prompt Box


The Researcher agent will soon also appear as a button in the M365 Copilot Prompt Box across Microsoft 365 apps. Mid-July 2025. Read more.


🔜 Researcher is being added to Copilot Notebooks


Microsoft: “We’re expanding the capabilities of the Researcher Agent by integrating it into Copilot Notebooks. This enhancement allows users to conduct complex, multi-step research across enterprise data sources—without leaving the Notebook experience—using OpenAI’s deep researcher model with chain-of-thought reasoning”.

🔜 Teams Meetings Copilot response can be shared to external apps (Word or Excel)
Microsoft: “Microsoft 365 Copilot responses in Microsoft Teams meetings can be shared to external apps (Word or Excel). Responses generated by Copilot in Meetings will come with a button to Open in another app. Although this will start with Word and Excel, more apps will be added in the future”.

🔜 The Microsoft Copilot Prompts app is being retired


Microsoft is retiring the Prompt app, and you will no longer be able to use it from 15th July. Read more.


🔜 Microsoft 365 Copilot app for iOS and Android: Agent Store will be available
Microsoft: “We’re expanding the Microsoft 365 Copilot mobile experience by introducing the agent store on mobile. After this rollout, users will be able to directly acquire agents from the Agent Store in the Copilot mobile apps for iOS and Android—without needing to be dependent on the web or desktop versions for this acquisition. This update builds on our May 2025 release, which brought previously installed agents to the Copilot apps for iOS and Android”.

🔜 GA for Image Generation in Copilot Chat within M365 apps
Microsoft: “We’re excited to announce that image generation in Microsoft 365 Copilot will become generally available (GA). This AI-powered capability enables users to create high-quality images directly within Microsoft 365 apps, helping to enhance creativity and streamline content creation workflows”.

🔜 Access Copilot agents from the Microsoft Edge sidebar


Microsoft: “Users will soon be able to access agents in Microsoft 365 Copilot from the Edge sidebar (on the right side of the screen) while using Copilot”, and “Users must first add agents to Microsoft 365 Copilot for them to be available in the Edge sidebar when using Copilot. (Learn more about adding agents: Introducing agents – Microsoft Support). Users will not be able to create, search for, or add new agents when using Copilot from the Edge sidebar at this time”.

🕔 Ground your M365 Copilot Chat prompts in third-party data
Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat will soon allow you to ground prompts in third-party data from Microsoft Graph Connectors. Now due early July to early August 2025. Read more.


🕔 Ground your M365 Copilot prompts in SharePoint and OneDrive
When writing Copilot prompts in the chat box, you will soon be able to point your prompts (ground) at specific SharePoint/OneDrive folders and SharePoint sites. Now due late July to early August 2025. Read more.


🔭 1-click to create a Briefing page based on content in Copilot Notebook
Microsoft: “The 1-click page generation feature helps you complete tasks quickly. With a single click, Copilot creates a Briefing page based on your notebook content, no prompt writing needed”.

Microsoft: “With a Microsoft 365 license, use the ContextIQ ‘/’ to quickly add context to your Copilot Chat prompt from your files”.

🚫 Microsoft 365 Copilot: Visual Creator Agent will no longer be pre-installed


Microsoft: “To streamline the content creation experience within Microsoft 365 Copilot and align with tenant-level policies, Microsoft will no longer pre-install Visual Creator (1) agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat. Users will continue to be able to generate images directly in Copilot Chat. For broader content creation scenarios, we recommend using the Create (2) experience in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app…”.

Update: from late July 2025 Visual Creator will be retired from Copilot Chat (MC1105000). I am unclear whether it will also be retired from M365 Copilot; MC1098165 does not mention that it will.


📰 In the news: Landmark government trial shows AI could save civil servants nearly 2 weeks a year – GOV.UK
“More than 20,000 civil servants took part in a government-led trial using generative AI to support their daily work – with early results showing time savings equivalent to nearly 2 working weeks per person, per year”. I worked on this project within a UK government department…it’s great to see the positive outcome.

OneDrive will soon get a new Export as PDF feature for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files. Now due mid-July to mid-August 2025. Read more.


🕔 Use the new table of contents pane to navigate PDFs in SharePoint and OneDrive
OneDrive for the web and SharePoint will soon display a table of contents (ToC) in a panel on the left for PDFs that already have a ToC. This will allow you to view the ToC continuously and use it to navigate the document. Now due mid-July to early August 2025. Read more.


🕔 Apply a watermark to PDFs in SharePoint and OneDrive
You will soon be able to add text or image watermarks to PDFs in SharePoint and OneDrive. Now due late June to mid-July 2025. Read more.

Microsoft: “Microsoft 365 Copilot will soon offer AI-generated audio overviews for Word documents, PDF files, and Teams meeting recordings stored in OneDrive”. Now due early May to mid-July 2025. Read more.

🔜 New Microsoft Outlook for Windows: Drag and drop files between accounts as attachments


Microsoft: “We’re introducing a new drag-and-drop capability in the new Microsoft Outlook for Windows. This feature will users to drag emails and files from one personal or enterprise account and drop them into another personal or enterprise account as attachments—streamlining cross-account workflows and improving productivity”.

🔜 Offline Support for Calendar – Create, Edit and Delete Event support
Microsoft: “We’re expanding offline capabilities in the new Outlook for Windows. Users will soon be able to create, edit, and delete single calendar events even when not connected to the internet. This enhancement improves productivity and flexibility when working offline”.

🔜 Teams meeting option suggestions in classic Microsoft Outlook for Windows

🔜 Text Prediction turned off by default in Outlook
Microsoft: “Text Prediction will be turned off by default for all users of New Outlook for Windows and Outlook on the web, including those who currently have it enabled. On Outlook for iOS and Android, only new users will have the default set to off. After the change, users will no longer see predictive text suggestions while composing email messages unless they manually re-enable the feature in Outlook settings”.

Microsoft: “Copilot is expanding its capabilities to mobile, helping users prepare for meetings while on the move. With this update, Copilot can quickly summarize key meeting-related content—such as emails, documents, action items, and previous meeting recaps—so users arrive informed and ready”.

“Mobile users will benefit from faster, more contextual meeting preparation. By surfacing relevant insights and tasks directly on their mobile device, users can stay productive and informed even when away from their desks”.

🔜 Create a meeting from an email thread with Copilot on Outlook mobile
Microsoft: “Copilot now makes it easier to schedule meetings directly from email conversations. With the new Schedule with Copilot option, Copilot analyzes the email thread and automatically creates a meeting invitation—pre-filling the title, agenda, and attaching the email thread. Attendees from the email are added to the invite, and you can quickly review, edit, and send”.

🕔 Users can set custom account descriptions in new Outlook
Microsoft: “Coming soon to Microsoft Outlook: Outlook users will be able to set custom descriptions for their accounts, making it easier to identify their multiple accounts in the Outlook folder list as well as various lists and menus across Outlook”.

🕔 Microsoft Outlook for iOS and Android: Choose fonts while composing
Microsoft: “Coming soon for Microsoft Outlook for iOS and Android: We will add support for choosing fonts while composing emails. We will also improve support for fonts while reading emails”. Refs: MC847877 and 365 Roadmap ID 409969. Now due mid-November 2024 to late June 2025.


🕔 Replace quick compose pop-up with inline appointment creation in new Outlook for Windows and web
Microsoft: “In new Outlook for Windows and web, when single-clicking on an empty time slot on the calendar surface, the quick compose pop-up will no longer appear. Instead, you will be able to create an appointment by typing directly in the time slot on the calendar grid, just as you can in classic Outlook for Windows. There will be no change to double-click behavior; the full compose form will still open as it does today”. Refs: MC846387 and 365 Roadmap ID 406948. Now due early May to late July 2025.


🔭 Browse Conversation Files (Android and iOS)
Microsoft: “This feature makes it easy for users to find and access all files within a conversation thread. Instead of scrolling through each message to locate attachments, users can quickly view and manage all files in one place, accessed from the top of the conversation”.

🔭 Add attachments while offline in the new Outlook for Windows
Microsoft: “We are adding more functionality to offline mode in the new Outlook for Windows. You will now be able to add attachments while drafting your email without an internet connection”.

🔭 Folder Deletion Warning for Rules
Microsoft: “Outlook will show warning when you try to delete a folder that’s used in a rule. This helps prevent accidental rule breakage and ensures your email flow remains uninterrupted. You’ll be prompted to review or update affected rules before the folder is removed”.

🔭 Rule to display desktop alert
Microsoft: “Create rules that trigger a desktop alert when specific emails arrive. This makes it easier to stay on top of important messages without missing a beat. Look for the new “Display a Desktop Alert” action when setting up or editing your rules”.

🔭 Copilot surfaces important emails in new priority view
Microsoft: “Copilot makes it easy to identify high-priority emails and emails that need a reply, by offering a priority view directly within your Outlook inbox”.

🔭 Show teammates’ calendars in the left navigation pane
Microsoft: “Users can now see their teammates’ calendars (including peers, direct reports, and managers) automatically displayed in the left navigation pane of the new outlook”.

🔭 Catchup on important emails in Copilot Chat
Microsoft: “Copilot Chat helps you stay on top of your inbox by highlighting important and actionable emails such as messages from your manager, leadership, top collaborators, or emails containing tasks when you use prompts like “What’s hot in my inbox?” or “What were the important emails from last week?””.

🔭 Continue editing in Outlook from Copilot Chat
Microsoft: “When Copilot detects that you’re trying to write an email like saying “Draft an email to my team thanking them for their hard work on Project” You’ll see an “Edit in Outlook” button. The “Edit in Outlook” button will open a draft in Outlook, with the subject, message, and recipients filled in, so you can review and send it with ease”.

PowerPoint, Word and Excel


🔜 Add topic(s) through Copilot to your existing presentation
Microsoft: “With this update, users can prompt Copilot to generate new content or reference a file to add topic-specific slides. The generated slides will automatically align with the design and formatting of the current presentation, reducing manual effort and ensuring a cohesive experience”.

The above update from Microsoft is lacking details and visuals, but is still worth noting due to this part of the update: “The generated slides will automatically align with the design and formatting of the current presentation”. I bet a lot of us are looking forward to trying this!


🔜 Microsoft PowerPoint: Use Microsoft 365 Copilot to rephrase text with natural language prompts
Microsoft: “Microsoft PowerPoint is introducing a new capability that enables users to rephrase or rewrite text using natural language instructions via Microsoft 365 Copilot. This enhancement allows for more tailored and expressive content creation directly in PowerPoint” and “After this rollout, users will see a new option under the existing Copilot rewrite dropdown menu in textboxes. This feature introduces a prompt box where users can enter natural language instructions to rephrase or replace selected text”.

🕔 Easily stay on-brand with images when creating PowerPoint presentations with Copilot


You will soon be able to create presentations with M365 Copilot in PowerPoint using your organisation’s brand images. Now due early June to early July 2025. Read more.


🕔 PowerPoint: Copilot generates a new presentation in a new file when starting from an existing presentation
Microsoft: “After this rollout in Microsoft PowerPoint, when using Copilot to create a presentation from an existing one, the original presentation remains unchanged. Copilot generates the new presentation in a separate file, preserving the integrity of the content in the original file”.

🕔 Copilot in PowerPoint will soon be able to reference Excel files


Copilot in PowerPoint users will soon be able to create presentations based on Excel files. Now due late June to late July 2025. Read more.


🕔 M365 Copilot will automatically summarise Word documents as you open them
Copilot for Microsoft 365 in Microsoft Word will create a summary in the window at the top of the Word document as you open it. You can then hide the summary or open the Copilot chat pane to ask questions about the document. Now due late August 2024 to late June 2025. Read more.


🕔 Microsoft PowerPoint: Reference a PDF file when creating a presentation with Microsoft 365 Copilot 
You will be able to reference PDF files, in addition to Microsoft Word files, when creating a presentation in PowerPoint Copilot. This feature will be available on PowerPoint for Windows desktop, PowerPoint for Mac desktop, and PowerPoint on the web. After this rollout, you will see PDF files when searching for files that Copilot can use to create a presentation. Select the Copilot icon from the PowerPoint ribbon, choose “Create a presentation from file,” and search for PDFs by file name.

🕔 PowerPoint for Windows: Create a presentation with Microsoft Copilot from the PowerPoint Backstage view


You will soon be able to create PowerPoint presentations directly with Copilot from the PowerPoint Backstage view, which appears when you launch PowerPoint or select the File tab. A new “Create with Copilot” feature will be added to the top of this view, allowing you to generate presentations quickly using Copilot.

🔭 Use Copilot to rephrase text as desired through custom prompt in PowerPoint
Microsoft: “Now you will be able to rewrite text using Copilot through natural language prompting in PowerPoint”.

🔭 See a summary from Copilot of the latest changes and comments in the Word, Excel, and PowerPoint backstage view.

Microsoft: “After this rollout, SharePoint News posts will display an estimated read time. This will appear in the banner web part of each news item”, and “Authors can toggle it on or off in the settings panel of the banner web part”.

🕔 New SharePoint web part for FAQs, powered by M365 Copilot
A new web part for FAQs will curate FAQ content by working with your grounding information. By selecting one or more grounding source files, Copilot will generate the FAQ content, thereby reducing the time and effort required for creating FAQs. Now due early to mid-July 2025. Read more.


🕔 Ground your M365 Copilot prompts in SharePoint and OneDrive
When writing Copilot prompts in the chat box, you will soon be able to point your prompts (ground) at specific SharePoint/OneDrive folders and SharePoint sites. Now due late June to early July 2025. Read more.


🔭 Support for click through rate metric in page analytics
Microsoft: “This release will enhance SharePoint page analytics by adding click through rate metric. A new card will show the percentage of unique viewers who clicked on a link from the news post, providing insights into user engagement with the post”.

✅ Add a name pronunciation to your profile card in Teams and Outlook
Microsoft Teams and Outlook will soon include a feature that enables you to record and share the pronunciation of your name on your profile cards. Available now, if enabled by your organisation. Read more.


🔜 Usability and privacy improvements for live captions and transcripts in meetings


Live captions will be scrollable. Copying live caption text is now disabled by default.
Live transcripts will no longer open automatically for the user who starts recording. Users who attempt to open the Live transcript panel will see a banner suggesting they switch to live captions instead, which is often more appropriate. Due mid to late July 2025.

🔜 Save chats and channel messages for later


Microsoft Teams will soon allow you to save a message (post, reply, or chat) and access it later from the Saved view in your Chat or Teams list. Due late August to early September 2025. Read more.


🔜 New file attachment feature in external 1:1 and group chats


Microsoft: “Before this rollout, users had no option to attach file to compose box in chats with external users. The workaround was to copy and paste the link to a file into the chat compose box” and “After this rollout, when enabled by admins, users will see an Attach file option in the + menu of the chat compose box when messaging external users. This allows them to include files in their messages, enhancing collaboration with external partners”.

Teams is introducing a meeting timer to help keep your meetings and speakers on track. Due early to late July 2025. Read more.


🔜 Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat (free version): Now Easily Accessible from the Teams Chat List


Microsoft: “We’re introducing a new entry point for Copilot Chat in Microsoft Teams to simplify navigation and enhance the user experience. This update applies only to users who do not have a Microsoft 365 Copilot license” and “If Global Admins have pinned Copilot Chat using the Pin Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat setting in the Microsoft 365 admin center, users currently see Copilot Chat pinned to the Teams app bar. Starting June 30, a new “Copilot” shortcut will appear at the top of the Teams chat list (just above “Discover”) for users without a Microsoft 365 Copilot license. This provides a more intuitive way to access Copilot Chat in the context of conversations”.

🔜 Add custom dictionaries for Microsoft Teams meeting transcripts

Admins will soon be able to upload custom dictionaries for Microsoft Teams meeting transcripts, enhancing transcript accuracy for tenant-specific terms. Due early to mid-July 2025. Read more.


🔜 Inclusive meeting enhancements for sign language users
Microsoft: “Microsoft Teams is introducing Sign Language Mode to enhance meeting experiences for Deaf and hard-of-hearing participants. This feature will identify and visually distinguish interpreters, elevate sign language users to active speaker status, and ensure equal prominence with audio participants”.

🔜 Threaded conversations are coming to Microsoft Teams channels


Microsoft Teams is introducing a new threaded conversation layout for channels, similar to those found in group chats. Due mid to late August 2025. Read more.


🔜 Add interactive agents to Teams meetings and calls


You will be able to discover and acquire new agents (and view installed ones) from the existing apps pane in meetings, and interact with those agents within the context of the meeting. Due mid to late June 2025. Read more.


🔜 Automatically set work location by connecting to a Wi-Fi network
Microsoft: “Coming soon to Microsoft Teams: When users connect to their organization’s Wi-Fi, Teams can automatically set their work location to reflect the building they are working in. This feature is opt-in and requires you to take action to configure it”.

This update is beneficial for end-users to be aware of, but it’s primarily for administrators due to the configuration required to set it up.


🔜 Ability to Stop Copilot while it is generating a response in Teams
Microsoft: “Copilot in Teams will now have a ‘stop’ button after sending a prompt. This will allow the user to stop Copilot’s response either before the response has started to generate, or even after the response is generating. The user may then start a new prompt if they wish”.

Microsoft: “After the rollout, meeting participants who are not sharing their screens will have the ability to request an annotation session. This request will be sent to the presenter sharing their screen who can choose to accept or deny it”.

Microsoft: “Users familiar with keyboard shortcuts from third-party chat and meeting applications can use those same shortcuts in Microsoft Teams. To enable this, go to the Settings and more button in the upper right, access the keyboard shortcuts dialog, and select a communication or meeting layout. This allows users to apply the shortcuts they are used to from other applications”.

Microsoft: “Microsoft Teams will soon allow users to personalize the placement of notifications on their screens. This message applies to Teams for the web”.

Microsoft: “This feature will display your current network quality using a simple 3-bar system: Good (3 bars), Poor (2 bars), and Bad (1 bar). When your connection is limited, we’ll suggest actions to help conserve bandwidth and maintain meeting performance. You’ll also be able to see when other participants are experiencing poor or bad network conditions, providing better context for disruptions in the meeting”.

🔜 Microsoft Edge: The primary work profile will open external links by default
Microsoft: “We’re updating how Microsoft Edge handles external links for enterprise users. Before this rollout, Edge opens external links using the last used profile. After this rollout, for users signed in with Microsoft Entra ID, Edge will default to the Primary work profile to open links. The Primary profile is typically the most secure and appropriate profile for work-related content. This change will be on by default”.

Currently, the user setting is prioritized over application recommendations. With this feature, the application recommended profile is given priority, instead of the profile selected in the setting”.

🔭 Microsoft Edge: AI-powered History search
Microsoft: “Enhanced search finds sites in your History even when you use a synonym, phrase, or typo. After this feature is turned on, sites you visit will be shown in enhanced history search results. An on-device model is trained using your data, which never leaves your device and is never sent to Microsoft. Admins can use the EdgeHistoryAISearchEnabled policy to disable this feature”.

🚫 Microsoft Lists: Mobile apps for iOS and Android will retire
Microsoft: “We will retire the Android and iOS mobile apps for Microsoft Lists. We recommend users switch to the Microsoft Lists mobile browser experience, which offers more functionality and continues to be updated with latest improvements”.
