Short Version
Facilitator in Microsoft Teams is getting a new capability that spots when a question in a meeting goes unanswered, then searches the web and posts a relevant answer in the meeting chat. It works quietly in the background, typically responding less than once per meeting, and only to questions relevant to the discussion. Due mid to late August 2026.
Details
When Facilitator is added to a Teams meeting, it will monitor the conversation in real time to detect when someone asks a question or expresses uncertainty. If a factual question goes unanswered, Facilitator performs a web search and posts a response in the meeting chat, so the meeting can keep moving without anyone breaking off to look something up.
In practice, responses are infrequent, typically less than once per meeting, and are limited to questions relevant to the discussion based on the agenda and conversational context.
Facilitator is not enabled by default. It must be manually added to the meeting by someone with a Microsoft 365 Copilot Premium licence, although other participants do not need a licence to see the responses. You can stop the behaviour at any time by removing Facilitator from the meeting. The feature works in standard Teams meetings only, not in calls, webinars, or town halls.
