The convenience of templates is coming to SharePoint document libraries. Creating document libraries will soon be even easier with ready-made templates that come with a scenario-relevant structure, metadata, and content types. All of this is designed to save you time and maintain consistency. Due mid-November 2023.

Details
This new Document library creation experience will be available in two locations:

  • SharePoint Home > New > Document library
  • SharePoint Site > Site contents > New > Document library

Here’s an overview of the libraries you’ll be offered:

  • Blank library: a document library will be created with the basic columns of Name, Modified and Modified by.
  • From existing library: choose any document library from a site you have access to, and replicate the structure, formatting, metadata and content types (not the content) in a new document library.
  • From templates: There will be three templates: Media library, Invoices and Learning. Each template will come with a pre-defined schema, formatting, views etc.
  • Flows packaged into the out-of-the-box-templates: the Media Library and Invoices templates also come with pre-packaged Flows that can be skipped or completed
