🔜 Teams meetings as a reference in Copilot Notebooks
Meetings as references in Copilot Notebooks will bring Microsoft Teams meeting content into your notebook, allowing you to ground Copilot in discussions, decisions and context, with Microsoft enabling you to add transcripts, chats and shared content as sources so Copilot will generate more relevant insights and outputs, while access, permissions and governance policies will continue to be respected. For Microsoft 365 Copilot (Premium) users.

🔜 Microsoft 365 Copilot app: Simplified, chat-centred experience

Microsoft is updating the Microsoft 365 Copilot app (web and desktop) with a cleaner, more chat-centred experience — simplified chat and response layouts, formatting preservation (4), streamlined navigation with a new pinned section and Tasks tab, a single “Work IQ” grounding toggle, and clearer agent details. Available behind an opt-in toggle from June 2026, on by default from July 2026. Read more.
🔜 Microsoft Copilot Studio – Create workflows using natural language with the Agentic Workflow Builder
Microsoft is introducing the Agentic Workflow Builder, enabling you to create workflows in Copilot Studio using natural language, where your intent will be translated into structured logic, actions and triggers will be configured automatically, this should result in reduced setup effort and faster delivery.

Microsoft: “We’re introducing a new capability that allows users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license to scope and control Copilot Chat responses by selecting specific content sources. This enhancement is designed to improve the relevance and accuracy of Copilot responses by limiting them to user-selected sources, aligning with customer feedback for more transparent and customizable AI interactions”.

🕑 Microsoft 365 Copilot: Session persistence enhancement for Copilot chat
Microsoft: “We’re improving the reliability of Copilot chat by ensuring that conversations are preserved even when users navigate away from a chat. With this update, a session entry is created in the navigation pane as soon as a prompt is submitted. This allows users to return to the conversation later without losing context or progress”.

Microsoft is adding new output formats to the Researcher agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot: PowerPoint, PDF, Infographic, and Audio overview. Now due mid-April to late May 2026. Read more.
🕔 A new ‘Catch up’ option is coming to Teams mobile
Microsoft is introducing ‘Catch up’ in Microsoft Teams on mobile (1). This consolidated view will help you triage conversations (chats, meeting chats, and followed channels or threads) that need your attention. Now due late May to early June 2026. Read more.
🕔 Updated handling of work entities added in the Copilot Chat box
In Copilot, you can use the + menu to add work content to a prompt. How those added ‘entities’ appear is changing. Now due mid to late May 2026. Read more.
🔭 Get actionable suggestions from Copilot in your Copilot Page
Microsoft: “Request feedback from Copilot on your Page by selecting “Suggested edits” in the Copilot Shortcuts menu. Copilot will analyze the content on your page and provide actionable suggestions about what you can change to improve clarity and quality of your written content. You can then apply suggestions directly to the page.”

🔭 SharePoint list support in Agent Builder
Microsoft: “Agent Builder now supports using a SharePoint list as a knowledge source for agents in Microsoft 365 Copilot. Makers can ground an agent in structured list data so users can ask questions and get responses based on information stored in a selected SharePoint list. For this release, each agent can reference one SharePoint list with up to 20,000 items, alongside other knowledge source types. Support for list attachments and lookup columns is not yet available.”

Microsoft: “Vision in Microsoft 365 Copilot helps you make faster, more informed decisions by understanding context from what you share on your screen. Copilot can analyze visual inputs from shared desktop screens and provide detailed insights about the content. Talk to Copilot for answers grounded in work and web data.”

🔭 Microsoft Copilot Studio: Invoke agents as workflow steps with the agent node
Microsoft: “Add an agent node to your workflow to reason over data, call tools, and return a response, all within a single step. The agent node lets you embed reasoning directly into your workflow. This means fewer manual handoffs, faster processing times, and workflows that can handle nuanced decisions without additional development effort, helping teams automate more of their end-to-end processes and reduce operational overhead.”

🔭 Microsoft Copilot Studio: Supercharge your workflows with computer use
Microsoft: “Add resilient, AI-powered UI automation directly into your workflows with computer use tools. Makers can build reusable, goal-oriented automations that adapt dynamically to website or app changes, while admins maintain governance through access controls, hosted browser management, and environment-level permissions.”

🔭 Microsoft Copilot Studio: Use MCP-compliant tools in agent workflows
Microsoft: “Integrate proprietary systems, dynamic knowledge sources, and custom actions into your agentic workflows with MCP support, accelerating extensibility while preserving workflow reliability. This integration improves reuse across agents and workflows, reduces duplication of integrations, and embraces an emerging open and extensible agent ecosystem.”

🔭 New Copilot Notebooks design in the Microsoft 365 Copilot App
Microsoft: “The new Copilot Notebooks design in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app now lets users organize related chats, output creations, and references into a persistent AI workspace. Copilot uses the Notebook’s accumulated context to ground responses, so work continues across sessions instead of starting over each time. While this is the quicker, light-weight Notebooks experience, you can still find the fuller, workspace-forward experience in OneNote.”

🔜 User-initiated Copilot insights in classic Outlook for Windows

You can now highlight text in an email and prompt Copilot for contextual insights in classic Outlook for Windows. This gives you more control over when and how Copilot assists you, right inside your workflow. Due early June to late June 2026. Read more.
🕔 Outlook Mobile: Follow a meeting option
Microsoft will introduce a new Follow option for meetings in Outlook Mobile, which will help you stay informed when you cannot attend by prompting organisers to record the meeting and by ensuring you receive key updates and follow‑up items.

🕔 Share Word, Excel and PowerPoint local files via the new Outlook for Windows
Microsoft will soon add support for sending locally stored Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files as email attachments in new Outlook for Windows, as part of their ongoing efforts to achieve feature parity between classic Outlook for Windows and the new Outlook.

🔭 Sort improvements to the message list
Microsoft: “When sorting on Outlook for Web or Outlook for Windows, if the Sort By field is not one of From, Subject, or Date Received, we will now show an additional column for the Sort By value (e.g., Size). We will also support sorting by Flag Due Date.”

🔭 Variable number of message preview lines
Microsoft: “Outlook for Windows and Outlook for Web will now allow users to modify how the preview text for emails show in the message list. The preview text can now take up 2 lines, 1 whole line, or 0 additional lines.”

🔭 All Accounts view (Unified Inbox) brings your email into a single inbox view
Microsoft: “The All-Accounts view, also known as Unified Inbox, lets you see emails from multiple accounts in a single inbox view in the new Outlook for Windows, without merging your mailboxes. Each account’s inbox stays separate; the view brings them together so you can triage in one place. Users can read, delete, move, archive, and mark messages across accounts without switching between mailboxes. The experience integrates with Copilot for AI-assisted email workflows and supports Immersive Search for finding messages across your primary account. Advanced scenarios such as cross-account search and shared mailbox support will follow in later releases.”

🔭 Choose to Show Unread or Total Count for Each Folder
Microsoft: “You can now pick whether each folder in your folder pane shows the unread count or the total item count. Until now, Outlook only displayed unread counts, but sometimes you need to see how many items are in a folder overall. Just right-click any folder and choose whether to show the total or unread count. It gives you more control over how you keep track of your email without changing how anything else works.”

🔭 Emails marked with External to be supported as Rules conditions
Microsoft: “The External tag on an email, set by the ExternalInOutlook feature, will now be usable as a condition in Outlook Inbox Rules. This change also makes available the ability to create or modify these Rules on the new Outlook for Windows, Outlook Web, and Outlook for Mac.”

🔭 Navigate Your Favourite Folders Without Expanding the Folder Pane
Microsoft: “You can now quickly switch between your favorite folders without opening the full folder pane. When the pane is collapsed, your favorite folders appear as a vertical list, giving you one-click access to the folders you use most. Each folder shows unread or total counts so you always know what needs attention. Right-click any favorite for the same options you’re used to, and your selections stay put across sessions. It’s a familiar experience for anyone who loved favorites in classic Outlook, now built right into the new Outlook.”

🔭 Introducing Exchange Online Cross-tenant Message Recall
Microsoft: “We’re enhancing the Exchange Online Message Recall feature to add support for cross-tenant recalls. Today, you can recall messages only within your organization. 🔜 Lock-free coauthoring in Microsoft Word
Lock-free coauthoring will allow you to edit the same paragraph in Word at the same time as others, reducing conflicts and interruptions. If unsupported scenarios occur, Word will revert to the existing coauthoring experience, meaning simultaneous paragraph editing may not be available, while file storage, sharing, access workflows, and existing collaboration policies will remain unchanged.

🔜 New entry points for ‘Create pages with AI in SharePoint’

Copilot in SharePoint (previously AI in SharePoint) is gaining new entry points for AI-assisted page and news post creation. Authors can now start from the Publish landing page or the Site Template Gallery, moving from idea to publish-ready content faster while keeping full editing control. 🔜 SharePoint Pages: Updates to the Toolbox within the Content pane

SharePoint Online’s page editing toolbox (in the content pane) is being reorganised so all web parts are visible the moment you open it. Stock images, videos, and recently used images each get their own tab, and section templates move to a separate tab. Due late May to late June 2026. Read more.

🔜 Simpler meeting controls and a smarter share panel in Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is refreshing the in-meeting experience with two coordinated updates – simplified meeting controls and a redesigned share panel. Together, they make core actions easier to find, cut accidental clicks, and give you more confidence when sharing content. Due early to late August 2026. Read more.

Microsoft Teams is adding two new system chat sections: Muted chats and Meeting chats to help you organise your chat and channels list by grouping those conversations into dedicated sections you can turn on or off. Due early May to late May 2026. Read more.
🔜 New file download manager in Teams
Microsoft will introduce a new file download manager experience in Microsoft Teams to streamline downloads and reduce on-screen interruptions by simplifying download notifications while still allowing you to easily find downloaded files after completion. File download notifications in Teams will automatically dismiss after approximately 4 seconds, and you will have the option to open or locate downloaded files once the download has finished.

🔜 Quick Share for images in Microsoft Teams

Microsoft is bringing Quick Share to images in Microsoft Teams, so you can share or copy image links faster — straight from hover actions, right-click menus, overflow menus, and shared tabs — while your existing permissions still apply. Due mid-June to late June 2026. Read more.
🔜 Support for disabling file previews in Microsoft Teams
Microsoft will introduce a new user-level setting in Microsoft Teams that will allow you to disable file previews in your messaging experience, giving you more control over how files are displayed while preserving the existing experience by default, with the setting turned on, so there will be no change to current behaviour unless you choose to turn it off to disable file previews for yourself.

🔜 Unblock users to send messages while a file is uploading in the background
Microsoft will update Microsoft Teams so you will be able to send chat messages while files are uploading, as uploads will occur asynchronously in the background, and the message input box will no longer be blocked. There will be no changes to how files are stored or shared, and existing compliance, retention and security policies will remain unchanged.

🔜 Standardised preview experience for Word, Excel and PowerPoint files

Microsoft will introduce a standardised preview experience for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files in Microsoft Teams across desktop and mobile platforms (see image above), with the intention of improving performance, reliability, and consistency. Availability will vary by platform: PowerPoint and Excel previews on iOS and Android; Word previews on iOS only (with Android support to follow).

Microsoft is renaming the Viva Connections app in Microsoft Teams to the SharePoint app. Due early to late June 2026. Read more.
🕔 Private chat for organisers and presenters in structured meetings, webinars, and town halls
Microsoft will add a private chat for organisers, co-organisers, and presenters in structured meetings and webinars, letting you communicate privately before, during, and after events. Backroom chat behaviour in town halls will also be standardised to remove inconsistencies caused by streaming chat settings and Teams Premium licences.

🕔 Recently used emojis sync across devices
Teams will soon sync your recently used emojis and reactions across devices, giving you the same “recently used” list on Android, iOS, Mac, Windows desktop, and the web. The feature will be enabled by default, will respect your existing admin settings and messaging policies. Microsoft hope to create a more consistent experience when communicating across chats and channels.

🕔 Context preservation in Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams will introduce context preservation that restores your recent conversation and view when you return after a short break, helping you resume work without resetting your workspace. If you return to a chat, channel or Quick View within 30 minutes, your previously selected tab, layout, any open side panel and, in Quick View, the selected message will be restored. If you return more than 30 minutes later, the conversation or view will open in the default layout, and your previous context will not be restored.

🕔 New controls for Quick views, such as Mentions and Followed threads
Quick views, such as Mentions and Followed threads, which appear at the top of chat and channel lists, will only appear when there are unread items. Now due late March to late June 2026. Read more.
🕔 Find SharePoint agents in Teams chats and Teams Store
Microsoft will let you discover and add SharePoint agents within Microsoft Teams chats on Desktop and Mac. You will add them via the Add agents and bots option in the chat dropdown, which opens the in‑context store for discovery and selection. SharePoint agents will also appear in the Teams Store under the Agents category, making them easier for you to find.

🕔 AI meeting recap without a transcript to meet compliance policies
Microsoft will soon allow you to use Recap without saving a transcript, so Copilot can generate an AI meeting summary from live context without saving a recording or transcript, supporting organisations with strict data‑retention policies. As an organiser or participant with a Copilot licence, you will be able to control this setting before or during the meeting. When it is enabled, you will receive an Intelligent Recap even if recording and transcription are off, with no transcript or recording retained.

🕔 Automatically transcribe Teams meetings without creating a recording
Meeting organisers will soon be able to automatically transcribe meetings without a recording. Now due early May to early June 2026. Read more.
🕔 Microsoft Teams introduces efficiency mode to improve app responsiveness

Efficiency Mode is a performance-optimised experience designed for hardware-constrained devices (for example, devices with limited CPU and memory). This change will be on by default, and aims to improve app responsiveness and meeting quality by adjusting resource usage based on device capabilities. When enabled, an Efficiency Mode indicator appears in the Teams app title bar, video resolution sent from your camera is dynamically adjusted in meetings, and Teams launches without a pre-selected chat and shows a static image in the message pane. If you prefer, you can opt out via Settings > General > “Never use efficiency mode.”

🕔 Automatic removal of EXIF data from shared images
Microsoft Teams will soon automatically remove hidden EXIF metadata (details such as photo location, camera model, and device information) from images that you share in chats and channels to protect sensitive details. This update will apply to Teams for Windows desktop, Teams for Mac desktop, and Teams for the web. The visible image content will remain unchanged. If you need to retain EXIF data, you can upload the image to OneDrive and share a link in Teams instead.

🕔 Assign participants to breakout rooms using CSV import in Microsoft Teams meetings
Microsoft Teams will soon support CSV import for breakout room assignments, enabling you to bulk-create rooms and pre-assign participants ahead of meetings. Imported assignments will still be editable as needed.

The Teams meeting experience when the active meeting window is minimised is being updated to help you stay engaged while multitasking in other apps. Now due early to late June 2026. Read more.
🕔 Improved copy and paste support for @mentions and shared contacts in Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams will improve copy and paste for messages containing @mentions, shared contacts, and supported @tags by keeping tags interactive whenever they are valid in the destination conversation and falling back to plain text only when they cannot be used.

🔭 Connect Teams meeting to existing Planner Plans
Microsoft: “Teams meetings automatically create a corresponding Planner plan to capture meeting tasks. However, when teams use meetings as their primary collaboration surface for long-running initiatives, tasks from the same project can become scattered across multiple auto-generated plans. With this capability, users can now connect Teams meetings to existing Planner plans, so all related tasks across meetings can be tracked in one place.”

🔭 Interpreter – Simultaneous mode enhancements
Microsoft: “We’re introducing 3 enhancements to AI Interpreter’s Simultaneous mode. First, the interpreter audio and live captions now match exactly, with both using the same language the user selects. Second, admins can fully disable voice simulation if needed. Third, users will have more platform voice options, with dynamic voice assignments that help distinguish each speaker and make conversations easier to follow.”

🔭 Preloaded video for Teams Events and Meetings
Microsoft: “Users can now upload videos directly into a Teams event or meeting from OneDrive from the “Manage view” options when an organizer has turned on Manage What Attendees See mode. This ensures a smoother high quality video playback with a more consistent experience for attendees.”
